Do you have some tricks up your sleeve to get #Thunderbird to use #Tumpa, @kushal ?

And it even starts both scdaemon and gpg-agent just by opening up an encrypted mail ... asking for me to unlock the Yubikey 3 times in a row before showing anything 🫠

And a fun detail ... I renamed ~/.gnupg to something else ... and gpg still finds lots of my prior imported public keys. I have no idea where it picks them from. Even strace confirms it not finding the files in ~/.gnupg. Ensuring gpg-agent and scdaemon are running, still same output.

Gee how my dislike for gpg continues to grow, every single day.

I've been running #Tumpa CLI for a while on a few selected git repositories, where I use #yubikey for the #PGP key storage.

Today I have globally replaced gpg2 with tcli and tclig in the git config. It does the job very well and is far less annoying than gpg ever was. The tcli agent is also much more nicely behaving than the gpg-agent.

And I'm even more impressed that Tumpa even handles multiple Yubikeys plugged in in parallel. It selects the right key for the right identity and the tcli agent even caches the needed passphrase/PIN as expected. This is something which was a complete mess with GnuPG.

Do you use #OpenPGP for #ssh or #git #sign? #tumpa-cli is the developer friendly tool to keep like simpler for all us and replaces the usage in password-store https://github.com/tumpaproject/tumpa-cli#quickstart The original desktop application Tumpa will have a new release very soon.
