I'm working on v2 of the Pete Millet mic preamp. I've had the parts to mostly finish it for about a year, but kept it on the shelf for no good reasons. But I've needed to do something to take my mind off the stress of these last few months so I took it off the shelf.

Both main PCBs (the yellow ones) are "permanently" mounted, and I mounted the female input XLR's. I also wired them to the inputs of both boards. It's coming along slowly but surely.

Nach zwei Jahren mit äußerst interessanten Programmen ausschließlich von Komponist:innen und Arrangeur:innen aus der Region widmet sich die BIG BAND WEST dieses Jahr der Musik von Thad Jones, Mel Lewis und Count Basie.

„Wir haben unter den Musikerinnen und Musikern der Big Band eine Umfrage gestartet, um herauszufinden, welcher Stil das Programm für 2025 bestimmen soll. Das Ergebnis war eindeutig – die Musik dieser drei Jazz-Größen! Sie gilt für viele als die Hochblüte der Big Band Ära“, erklärt Elmar Berger, der die Band seit 2015 leitet.

Die BIG BAND WEST, bestehend aus Musiker:innen aus Deutschlandsberg und der gesamten Weststeiermark, wurde 1988 erstmals von Musikschuldirektor Prof. Josef Rupp gegründet. 1998übernahm der Posaunist Hansjörg Arndt die Leitung und 2015 Elmar Berger.

Georg Slamanig ist ein Grazer Liedermacher, der vor allem mit seinen Texten überzeugt. Seine Lieder leben vom Charme der österreichischen Aussprache, verbunden mit vertrauten Harmonien aus Klassik, Country, Blues und Jazz. Auf seinem Debütalbum "Wird schon irgendwie geh'n" thematisiert er die Hürden des Erwachsenwerdens und liefert gesellschaftskritische Sichtweisen, die er stets mit einer gewissen Selbstironie untermalt. Musikalisch lässt er sich dabei unter anderem von Felix Kramer, Norbert Schneider und Jamie Cullum inspirieren.
