Home and unpacked. Am in dire need of some sleep but my goal is to up and away from my bed until 9pm. Absolutely lovely to arrive back to a London bathed in sunshine. Keeps the holiday vibe going a little longer...

Gah. Horrid night of barely any sleep due to ambient noise in the hotel. Turns out our room backed onto the lifts. Then alarm at 5am 😭
Thankfully, I’ve nothing but a 14hr flight ahead of me today, so hopefully I can catch up on some sleep then.
But first: all the coffee ☕️

Our last night in #Japan, for a while at least. Staying at the airport hotel in Haneda as we have such an early start tomorrow morning.
So no temptation to have “just one more” in Ni-Chome and fly home feeling like death. 😜 I’m looking forward to “Dry May” as soon as I get home…

I'm approaching that stage in the trip when I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed again. I mean, I *adore* Tokyo, but I haven't been in my own bed since April 10th. So it'll be nice to get home again on Monday. I'll still miss Japan like crazy, but I'll sleep a lot better.

Just had a nice mooch around #UenoPark and now heading back to the hotel for a restorative soak in the sento and a session in the sauna. Then a disco nap and another evening in Ni-Chome. 🏳️🌈🪩🕺🍻

Just had the most gorgeous wander around the beautiful #RikugienGardens. A veritable riot of colour.

I *may* have had one too many beers out on the town last night. But it was epic fun so I’ll take the consequences.
Last full day in #Tokyo today. Going to take it easy and enjoy some tranquil Japanese gardens later.

I’m half-way through a wonderful soak and sauna session here in #Tokyo. But now it’s time for some Japanese curry and a beer. 🍛 🍺
Then back to the hard work of lying around naked in pools of hot water until every fibre of my being is completely relaxed. ♨️

We’re out in Jiyūgaoka this evening, meeting a local friend for dinner. I see a mountain of delicious sushi in my future 🍣

Visit to the onsen has been rescheduled to tomorrow. It’s just too nice outside, so we’re going to enjoy the sunshine in the park instead ☀️

Last night was tremendous fun but probably far too late lol. I snapped this on the walk home from Shinjuku Ni-Chome at about 2:30am, just like I did back in November last year.
In the early hours of the morning, these lights stand out in Shinjuku like something from a film set.

About to head out for a walk from Shinjuku to Shibuya. The weather looks great. And it’s our favourite walk to take together when we visit Tokyo. Taking in Yoyogi Park and Harajuku on the way. 🚶

First evening out in #ShinjukuNiChome and of course there was karaoke. And of course I did. And of course it was “Diamonds are Forever” because I’m nothing if not predictable.

Landed safely in #Tokyo and through customs in a flash. Now awaiting our train(s) into town. It is indescribably good to be back in #Japan. #TravelToots

We have enough time to take advantage of the business lounge here at the airport. Delighted to find an excellent selection of dim sum. Eaten before I thought to take a pic. Trust me, each mouthful was delicious. 🥟🦐🐷 #TravelToots

Just had the sweetest Uber driver to the airport. She was a delight from start to finish. Have had nothing but lovely interpersonal encounters here in #Taipei. Such a friendly place. #TravelToots

I’ve been catching up on news and my socials, while sipping a beer, in the foyer of my hotel. I have two hours before we need to make tracks and head out for dinner, and I’m presently weighing up the need for a shower (almost certainly!) and the benefits of another free drink from the bar (possible).
Yes, we were gifted a bunch of free drinks when we checked in, as they don’t have an executive lounge we can use. So I’m determined to avoid losing out and leaving them unused. -
Enjoyed a wander around the Lungshan Temple here in Taipei earlier. It was 30C and very humid, but well worth the walk to get there.

On our way to #Taipei101 to be total tourists lol. (After totally embarrassing ourselves trying and failing to get tickets for the metro. Until a very kind lady saw our despair and helped us out.)

Just enjoyed a very tasty afternoon tea at our hotel. And any second now, they're going to bring out the free bubbles 🥂🍾 so I'm not going anywhere in a hurry.

Enjoying the spectacular views from #VictoriaPeak here in #HongKong. Perfect weather for it, and my glasses are hiding the enormous jet lag bags under my eyes!

📸 I spent most of yesterday day afternoon like this. Sitting by the hotel pool, with occasional forays into the pool, with lots of people-watching thrown in for good measure. The Tan™️ has come on nicely as a result.
