I’m working on a mapping project. Here are two versions of our Spain trip map from last year. This is truly multimodal, with flights, buses, trains, and ferry. One version shows the flights in a mini-map, so you can see the land segments. It's great to have the time to experiment with AI coding-assisted tools and not be forced to try to come up with something that makes money. Instead, I focus on creating the tools I want.

Working on a mapping project. Here is an example of an all-water Southeast Alaska route starting up the Stikine River in BC Canada. Where there is a ferry, it follows those routes (Juneau-> Sitka); otherwise, it calculates a water route. It's built for social media, so it's not fully navigable. It also snaps to marine routes which is probably the cause of the backtracking at Port Armstrong. The transition from river to inland waterways has taken a lot of work.

This example shows a #Vegrún map of the Bucharest to Budapest river cruise we will go on this year. It doesn't show the flights, but the yellow is bus routes and the blue is river routes. So I'm building a mapping platform that lets you stitch together every leg of your trip—flights, trains, buses, ferries, car rentals, bike rides, and hikes—on a single, beautiful, interactive map. #TravelMap #RoutePlanning #EuropeTrip #TravelDestinations

For example, where is a #Vegrún map of our recent American Southwest camping trips with a mini-map showing the flights? The main map shows the driving route, plus a GPX route for the Skutumpah Road to Cottonwood Canyon Road loop near Kanab, and a hidden GPX route from Glen Canyon Kayak. It's too hot outside, so I used the opportunity to experiment with @felt's boundary extraction feature to make a travel map.

It's pretty convenient to have all these admin boundaries built in. The only issue I encountered were inconsistent zoom levels, i.e. different countries' state-level boundaries appear at different zoom levels

Not quite pre-pandemic levels, but glad I was able to visit my parents and relatives in Taiwan early this year after 3.5 years of travel restrictions. In 2022, 3 out of 10 trips were for work, in 2023, it's 8/12. I think I'm overworked this year, need to do more leisure (and relaxing) trips in 2024! #travelmap

This is more interesting (to me anyway) - a map of ~500 pins on #Tripadvisor of the cities I've visited. I haven't updated it in a few years, although I did add Dubai and Abu Dhabi (most recent ones) before taking the screenshot. #travelmap
