  4. CW: Incel, parody song

Incel's diner, with apologies to Suzanne Vega
(inspired by the below 'yikes' Facebook post)

I am standing in the line
At the coffee shop on the corner
I am waiting at the counter
And some petite blonde blue-eyed cutie
    She smiles at me halfway
And before I karate chop her
She is looking out the window
And my heart winces in pain

  5. I was sitting with a laptop
    And procrastinating badly
Should be putting words on paper
    But instead I'm gonna toot

  6. Suzanne Vega, on being the mother of the MP3, through copyright violation as it happens (2008)

The story behind the MP3 audio compression algorithm includes this tidbit:

So Mr. Brandenberg gets a copy of the song, and puts it through the newly created MP3. But instead of the “warm human voice” there are monstrous distortions, as though the Exorcist has somehow gotten into the system, shadowing every phrase. They spend months refining it, running “Tom’s Diner through the system over and over again with modifications, until it comes through clearly.

Which is to say, to song was copied, again and again, in its entirety, in order to perfect the algorithm.

A practice today which would all but certainly ressult in copyright violation claims against the developer.
