TIL: RJ11 (old telephone cord) cables will plug into RJ45 (ethernet) plugs and connect the middle 4 lines. This is extremely useful in case you want to wire up old phone lines and you happen to have ethernet-oriented parts that are plentiful, cheap, and still manufactured.

Totally unrelated: have any fellow weirdos wired up an analog (POTS) phone system in their house, to use for local* calls?

That boost I just bumped of the water droplets on a leaf reminds me of a technical word pair people often get wrong.

The words describe materials or surfaces that either repel water or absorb moisture and they are respectively hydrophobic and hygroscopic. The mistake you see a lot is "hydroscopic" which isn't a proper technical term.

The difference is that the latter refers to absorbing moisture, not water, and uses a Greek root to say that.

I try and use game bar to record a clip on my PC, and get this error:

Game BarRecording isn't workingError: 0x82323673. Press the Xbox button or Windows logo key + G for Game Bar

The solution to this problem is to go into windows settings, then gaming, then captures, then check the "record what happened" check box, which enables this capability. Microsoft does not tell you this in the message or in a support article or by documenting this error code in any way, because they hate you. Anyway, hopefully this helps someone. #TMYK!
