Technology wars are generally unproductive and unconstructive. At the same time there's undeniably competition - #ActivityPub vs #ATProto - or coopetition - ActivityPub vs #XMPP - between different technologies. Because success and popular uptake of one technology can lead to the demise of another.
Instead of diminishing the other #technology and engage in endless heated fights and conflicts, it is better to consider the technology one is most passionate about, and look for all those aspects and factors that are important for its uptake and widespread #adoption. Stand strong in your own shoes. Other #technologies then become input to learn from. What are weaknesses, what can be copied, and what can be done better? And also, where can there be unison, interoperability, collaboration, cross-pollination with other technology ecosystems?
Technology doesn't "win". It's people who stand to win or loose, depending on how well the tech supports their needs.

I am #antiAI in the sense that the disruptive introduction of #LLM platforms into society, and damn the externalities, makes #AI utterly inhumane technology.
What I do not think is very effective, is the anti-AI #activism that involves attacking or 'ostracising' any person who uses AI or is not equally vocal in expressing negative sentiments towards the technology.
People should be pointed to all the dangers and follies of this technology, sure. But repelling all those that use AI, which is nearly everyone since AI is forced down our throat, the activism only serves to push the activist into the fringes, instead of winning people over in a growing movement.
#CALMculture is needed. Constructive activism-led movements, where people are guided on a journey from awareness to delightful #solutions. Offer a path of solution-orientation that open new opportunities, instead of just pointing out harm and laying judgment.

If we were atoms drifting among countless others in chaotic #commons of a petri dish.
How do we form tight molecules together, collaborate with other atoms around us? Equivalent to what #FOSS tries to do. We need good chemistry to make that happen. Take shape together, #organize, find #governance.
Laws of Nature. With many other molecules and atoms like us, how do we #unite? Form cohesive bonds. Become something much stronger still. How do we reach atoms remotely in vast petri dish space, eternities away?
Akin to how we try on #fedi too. Form substance. Take more meaningful shape. But how? We're organic matter, and our tech is rock hard.
How do we form a biological #ecosystems within this dish? #Sustainable, able to #survive? How do we become alive, gain collective #awareness, #agency, ability to act as #collectively?
Finally how are we able to thrive? Find #freedom? Organisms liberated from this dish?
