  1. So the pigeon who has been nesting in the crab apple tree outside my window has two of the ugliest babies you ever did see. And I mean that in the nicest way possible. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy (second wee one almost totally hidden at the back, so you’ll need look closely)

  2. Current view from my face at half nine in the evening. I can hear the hedgehog family rootling about in the shrubbery, a blackbird is providing an evening serenade, and everything else is still. Perfection! #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  3. I made this darling one jump when I took out the recycling but just look at his little nose! #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy #Hedgehog

  5. And out of the oven, having had 35 mins at 200c. They smell amazing and will make about 9/10 portions of chicken (in things like salad, or with rice and veggies). #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy #cooking

  6. Making baked chicken breasts from the pack I found in the reduced section yesterday. They spent the night marinating in yoghurt mixed with lemon juice & ras el hanout spice mix. This is the before baking photo, after’ll be in about 30 mins (or when I remember to share) #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  7. Tonight the approaching dusk brought pink clouds and a fleeting appearance from the shyest occupant of my garden. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy #Hedgehog

  9. Happy Easter to all who celebrate!
To mark my return from my social media break I bring daffodils and a pair of Easter bunnies for all you lovely people in my phone. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  11. There is sunshine. The river is more like a lake but there is sunshine! #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  13. It’s the last day of May and the last of my #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy for a bit, as I go off for a social media free June. Helpfully my Ferdinand Picard rose has bloomed in time to share the raspberry ripple fabulousness with you all. Have a wonderful month, my lovelies, and I’ll see you in July!

  14. My Darcy Bussell rose, which is such a deep velvety red it never looks on camera how it does in real life, has started to bloom. This is as good a photo as I could get! #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy #DavidAustinRoses

  15. Today may be wet & miserable looking but my garden is currently the go-to crèche & snack spot for the local birds; so far I’ve spotted juvenile starlings, robins, blackbirds, blue tits, great tits & sparrows along with their adults plus this lovely Song Thrush. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy #Birds🪶

  16. It has mostly been grey and wet today so I’ll return us all to last week’s sun and the figs in the walled garden at Attingham. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  17. It’s #TheGlorious25th when we #WearTheLilac and and sing #HowDoTheyRiseUp. Here are lilacs and proof both that I am wearing some and at the start of a fun day out in Oxford with my bestie. Hope everyone else has a glorious Sunday too! #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy #GNUTerryPratchett

  18. Lovely lupins for what is currently being an incredibly productive Friday. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  19. I can’t decided which photo of the patch of Dwarf Orange Avens in Attingham’s walled garden I prefer, so you get all three (and a bonus bee). #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  20. Walled garden loveliness with columbines (aquilegia) and day-lilies. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  21. The walled garden at Attingham is delightful at the moment - as the next of week or so of #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy photos will attest - but I want to start off with this unexpected poppy growing at the top of one of the walls; may we all be this vibrant and tenacious!

  22. Yesterday I sanded down and treated the wooden table & bench in my garden and cut back the shrub that was severely encroaching on the path at the corner of the house. Today I will balance my weekend out by mostly resting, writing, and enjoying the last of the blossom.

  23. I have broadband again, just in time for me to get a #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy in under the wire. And today I bring some vibrant and glorious laburnum flowers.

  24. It is Friday, the sun is shining, I’ve had a 4 mile walk this morning, and today the rhododendrons are a bright, beautiful yellow! #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  25. Thursday brings a cascade of multi-coloured rhododendron flowers in such bright sunlight they’re almost glowing. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  26. I’m interrupting my scheduled rhododendron posting to share that Cadfael has *just* beaten
Sweet Dreams to be first rose to fully open in my garden this year. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  27. Well the rhododendrons are busting out all over at Attingham Park so that’s what you’re getting photos of this week! A pinkish purple one to start #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  28. I’m having a bad brain day - the sort where it tries to convince me I’m a useless waste of space - but the swifts are screaming overhead, I have also seen house martins & swallows, and there is still blossom on some of the cherry trees so I’ll focus on the good instead. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  29. The sun is splitting the stones, my parents are celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary, and this cultivated hawthorn is blooming beautifully at Attingham Park. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  30. Oh frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! For completion is completed and my parent’s house is finally sold!
Have the most beautiful magnolia tree and blooms in celebration #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  31. This morning I was asked to judge this robin’s best angle but I simply can’t decide. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy #Birds🪶 #EuropeanRobin
PS I didn’t need zoom to take these, he really was this close!

  32. Good morning, lovely people! It is my birthday, the sun is shining, and I have birthday flowers in my favourite vase. My plans are small - a walk, good coffee, reading in the garden, crocheting on the sofa - but a calm, peaceful day is just what I need. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  33. It’s Friday, the full skip has been taken away and what I hope is the last skip we’ll need is scheduled to arrive later today, and Dad continues to improve after his fall. So I’m declaring today a good day and sharing more blossom! #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  34. I declare this week blossom week, since the sun has sent everything springing into action. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

  35. This morning, as well #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy, I bring a question for all the #Birds🪶 people: are these two very small aquatic birds Little Grebes? Sorry for the grainy photo but I only had my phone and they were on the far side of the pond from me (coot and moorhen for scale).

  36. Took a lunchtime walk to the Old Mill Pond where I was judged by Abigail and Amelia Gabble. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy #Birds 🪶
