Isotope studies show that juvenile Limusaurus were meat-eaters but adults were plant-eaters. This is from DINOSAUR BEHAVIOUR (2023), by Prof Michael Benton (published by Princeton University Press).

  25. Archaeopteryx shared many anatomic characters with #coelurosaurs, a group of #theropods (carnivorous dinosaurs). In fact, only the identification of feathers on the first known specimens indicated that the animal was a #bird. Unlike living birds, however, #Archaeopteryx had well-developed teeth and a long well-developed tail similar to those of smaller dinosaurs, except that it had a row of feathers on each side. The three fingers bore claws and moved independently.

  26. Can studies of living animal colour constrain the #colours of #dinosaurs? A case study with big #theropods markwitton-com.blogspot.com/20

@markwitton: #Biologists have made enormous strides in understanding living animal colouration, looking at how it relates to habitats, #camouflage, signalling behaviour, body size, posture, visuality acuity and so on. Has it advanced to the point where we can start to make tighter predictions about #extinct #animals?
