One of the things I’ll always love about my upbringing is my folks provided exposure to different types of music; while they didn’t always particularly care for the rock and roll I’d end up listening to, I wasn’t prevented by them to do so. That said, the evening’s “live” selection on deck, one of those classic album cuts from Christie Hynde and the Pretenders, here with Dave Grohl from a couple years ago at Glastonbury.

“Brass in Pocket” was the first single from #ThePretenders first (and best) album and as such, it was my introduction to this tight little band and #ChrissieHynde's sultry vocals - but to be honest, I never liked it much. When the album came out I found that I love love loved everything else on it, so eh, no matter about this song. It's a mystery to me how it was a hit but if it helped Chrissie Hyde break into the music biz, I can’t hate.
However, I have to acknowledge that “Brass in Pocket” IS the quintessential flirting song, and established Chrissie’s attitude: Gonna use everything I have to MAKE YOU notice.
