I know virtually nothing about Highguard except that I might have seen the trailer at The Game Awards now that I see that mentioned, but this PCGamesN piece on the review system of Steam is on point. Though personally, I value Steam reviews less than the author and I'd not mind them not existing if that's the price of removing the predominantly unhelpful and irrelevant reviews.

I don't buy #Highguard devs being totally indie or fully self-founded.

There is no studio who can buy Jeff's slot BEFORE the GOTY award and say they're not backed up by a corporation.

The changes are slim, but I believe they're backed by another corporation, likely Tencent, NetEase, or some Venture Capital (VC).

#Expedition33 is The Game of the Year.

Deserved? Totally.

It's one of those generational games that push the media forward, which craft and consistenct is superior to anything trying to compete in the same space, and will be inspiration for future games to come.

I can see 2029 full of JRPG titles with great narratives thanks to Expedition 33 showing how a good game can be.

A new KOTOR (Fate of the Old Republic) and a spiritual successor to Episode 1 Racer??

Star Wars fans ate good at the Game Awards tonight. I'm absolutely hyped for both of them, provided the devs deliver and don't 'modernize' them in the worst possible ways. I have high hopes, seeing how the new KOTOR is led by the director of the original KOTOR and Mass Effect trilogy.
