I’m going for another #windowThe Clientele, “From a Window” from Suburban Light (2001)
Breaking with my policy of a single selection for these Friday music posts because I've featured so many downtempo selections and I don’t want to be too one-note, and I find this track irresistible!
#TheClientele can sound so #BritishInvasion-y that they could come off as shtick, if they weren’t so good at it. Here their echoey vocals suggest a 60s recording played on AM radio, and though there’s just a single melodic vocal line - is it the harmonics of this technique? - it somehow hits me like fully harmonized #PowerPop, floating over their basic but pristinely recorded 3-piece rock.
