Lust for Life was release 49 years ago today so I decided to look up why they chose the cheesy photo for the album cover. It's not all that interesting really, but I saw an article about great opening bass lines:

Spoiler Alert! The greatest opening bass line is from Cannonball by The Breeders. It's an interesting read about how that opening happened.

But Cannonball is an unusual song on The Last Splash because it's musically brilliant, very original, yet it sits on an otherwise pretty poor album.

Yes, the album has some other good songs but nothing of that calibre and in my opinion the album has too many dull songs on it.

If only they'd worked on the rest of the album as much as they did for Cannonball.

After a weird series of events I was able to go to the Breeders and Team Dresh show in Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown #Portland. I had never seen #theBreeders before but they’ve recoded some of my favorite albums. They played several songs from an upcoming album, they sounded great. I’ve seen #TeamDresch a lot, but never in such a large setting. .
