I know I'm about two years behind here, but I just found my first one of these blighters. I'm finally starting to court the galaxy's finest engineers, starting with Felicity Farseer, and I figured I'd try to get her some Meta Alloys right from the source. Sadly these barnacles anywhere near the bubble all seem have all been plucked bare these days, so after this I visited the defeated #Thargoid Titan wreck in low Earth orbit, where Meta Alloys are floating around free for the taking.

Most importantly, getting #StunLock timing right allows to bypass the "caustic missile" (for hearts 2 and 4) and "shutdown field" (heart 3) special attacks.
The tactic requires pilots to move away ~700m when / after the second heart goes down, and either stay below 15% heat or use silent running for the remainder of the fight.
Getting the timing just right is key and takes practice. It's worth it I think, as it makes engagements much more exciting.

Why bother with a Cyclops? Thanks to improved weapons, they are now insta-kills for larger ships.
It's great for practice in inexpensive ships, goes easy on your in-game credits. And lessons learned transfer to large ships and more powerful thargoids.
Here's a full run (shaky VR) demonstrating stun-lock. It's quite messy, clearly needs more practice - the second heart needs to go before shield comes up. Heat sinks / silent running keep the stun-lock going.

So de-dusted my Diamondback Scout and went out to practice, with quite a few Rapid Unscheduled Disassemblies.
The 2% hull situation at the beginning of this thread marks the first time I finished a Cyclops using stun lock.
The next run went better, with a comforting 62% hull left. -

Before the war, #Thargoid Interceptor space ships were battled in long-running encounters, by dancing around them in circles, slowly sniping at their hearts one by one, avoiding their deadly weapons, and breaking formations everyy now and then to deal with scathing swarms of drones they'd emit. These engaging one-on-one fights would take even experienced pilots 15 minutes and more.
But the new gear allowed for new tactics.

Exploring #thargoid #stunLock in #EliteDangerous
Yeah, this is me, with just 2% hull left.

The Thump a Thargoid Tour starts on Tuesday 6th February
CMDR Grifter, who has organized the event, says:
Well, I needed a catchy title. No Thargoids will be involved until right at the end, and that is optional.
The objective of this excursion is to allow participants to get all the materials and commodities needed to unlock the best Guardian weapons and modules required for Thargoid combat. It will also be of benefit to anyone wanting general Guardian stuff.
This will involve visits to:
- Guardian sites for weapon, module, and optionally vessel blueprints if anyone wants them.
- Braintree system for raw materials.
- Infinite HGE system for manufactured materials.
- Maelstrom visits to get materials needed for caustic sinks.
- Guardian tech broker visit at the end for ease of purchase.
Grifters garage will stock commodities needed to unlock / purchase items. This is a squad only tour.
Planned departure – Tues 6th Feb 12:00pm Grifter’s Garage will host, and will aim to spend up to a week at each area to enable time for weekend players to get involved.
Additional carriers are welcome to join in.
Route, timetable and advice on stuff to bring will be published soon.
To join in the fun, you need to join our squadron (ENEX) in-game (see https://enduranceexploration.co.uk/join-the-squadron for instructions)
For more details check out the Thump a Thargoid Discord channel HERE.

@PrimetimeCasual if you like the space combat of #EliteDangerous , then you will definitely like Update 14. The portion about "New content and gameplay for the ongoing Thargoid narrative." = #Thargoid War = a lot of fun and a lot of payouts in credits.

The progression of graphic capability in video games throughout the years.
This game is #EliteDangerous, a massively multiplayer space simulation. It is the longest running space simulation series in history.
The images are of a #Thargoid Interceptor. The current version of the game allow you to play in immersive #VR. This is especially impressive with newer #GPU and #VR headsets

I tried to do my part in the ongoing #Thargoid narrative. I must say, I’m positively overwhelmed by the intensity. While traveling to a conflict zone I got hyperdicted by a Medusa that received backup by half a dozen scouts. Next I remeber: rebuy screen 🤪 Gotta get outta here fast… #elitedangerous o7
