  1. That was very disappointing. And strange. Very, very strange.

I thought I'd go for a walk in the park. But before I could reach the area I intended to stroll, I came across a big gross pile of dumped garbage. Rotting piles of clothes with... brown stains and some flies... larger stuff like a shopping cart and carpets and blankets (with brown stains and flies).. So..

I turned around and went home, got my ebike and cargo trailer, trash bags, etc.

I've done four or five loads so far -- all the big stuff is gone -- but my bike and trailer fell over again and again and again while I was loading (lots of damage racked up) And not a single person stopped to help.

The trailer hitch fell completely apart (parts lost), and I was reduced to using trash bags to tie it to the bike -- and of course that kept failing and I had to re-attach it again and again and again.

Dripping sweat. And a few tears.

I managed to shame ONE person into helping me get one load over the railroad tracks, but that was the only help I got.

It's Saturday. Lots of people out walking by on that trail and riding passed by.

This was *very* strange, and this whole experience was rather incredible to me -- I didn't *expect* to wind up needing help, didn't expect it to be that hard, but also wouldn't have ever believed it possible that *no one* would stop, that *no one* just joined in in helping pick stuff up... not one... This is Madison, WI, right? Same place I've lived since 2019? I'm very confused.

A couple couples said "Thank You" on their way by... No one else spoke to me.

It's getting dark and so I gave up for now, will be back tomorrow to finish gathering the rest -- all the heavy stuff is gone, I just need to bag and haul a couple more loads of smaller yuck.

I just spent a good 20 minutes in the shower, and used dish soap on my arms and legs. I'll be glad when it's dune, but right now I am very very sad.
