A new study [link above] shows that, in many tide-dominated coastal regions, flooding tends to occur at specific and recurring times of day. Rather than being completely random, flood events often cluster around predictable hours driven by local tidal patterns.
By analysing coastal flood observations from the UK and the US, [the authors] show[ed] that the timing of flood events can be highly structured, with some locations experiencing floods disproportionately during certain parts of the day.
This adds a temporal dimension to coastal flood risk. We often focus on how frequently floods occur, how severe they are, and where they happen. This study highlights that when they occur may also matter, particularly as rising sea levels increase the frequency of coastal flooding.

También si su suministro de agua depende de una bomba o algo eléctrico, no esta mal llenar un par de botellas para tener agua para tomar por lo menos, lavarse las manos o lo que sea. Estas situaciones nos recuerdan lo frágiles que son los servidores, lo dependientes que son de la electricidad y la conexión a internet, y esta tarea de concientización la tenemos que hacer porque no somos una empresa con los servidores en la nube ni en otro país ni nada. Tenemos el control 100% del servidor y ellos viven los mismos avatares climáticos que nosotros y ustedes. Dado que los servidores de Undernet estan dentro de la zona afectada, podrían darse caídas de árboles y/o columnas que afecten tanto el suministro de energía eléctrica como la fibra óptica de la conexión a internet. Para cortes no muy prolongados, tenemos una UPS de 3kVA que alimentará todos los servidores por unos minutos y si el corte es más largo que 5 minutos, algunos servidores se apagarán y otros quedarán encendidos por más tiempo dando algunos servicios más importantes. El plan de contingencia es el siguiente, a los 5 minutos del corte, se apagarán los servidores web, eso incluye Mastodon.uy, Undernet.uy y todas las plataformas como PeerTube, Nextcloud, Etherpad, Overleaf, los mirrors, XMPP, etc. Todo lo que funicone desde el navegador, quedará offline. Los servicios que quedarán operativos, el DNS, NTP, el correo electrónico y el servidor de chat IRC. Luego de unos 30 o 40 minutos de no volver el suministro, se apagará absolutamente todo y reiniciaremos los servidores cuando la luz haya vuelto y sea seguro encender, tenemos un generador, pero no es posible encenderlo en estas condiciones. I did a transition from Date to Temporal API on the backend side of one of my projects. The nice one is when you already use Intl.DateTimeFormat, you don't have to change anything in this area. Intl accepts both, Date and Temporal values.

Всем привет! Меня зовут Миша, я разрабатываю платформу Яндекс Еды. В декабре я рассказывал, как Temporal без боли решает привычную проблему распределённой бизнес‑логики . В продолжение темы я задумал написать такую статью, которую мне самому хотелось бы прочитать перед тем, как мы начали миграцию на Temporal. Всё изложенное проверено на практике: процессинг заказов Яндекс Еды уже почти год работает целиком на Temporal. Об общих принципах работы с Temporal я уже рассказал в предыдущей статье, а здесь я поделюсь полезными советами, выведенными из нашего опыта.
