  2. So, the only U.S. citizen to test positive for Hantavirus was the ship's doctor, and his symptoms were something else after all.
They believe he got a false positive for Hantavirus ("mildly positive" in the other headline in this thread).
He says everyone there is committed to finishing their quarantine and he may travel home to complete his.

  6. The reason I wanted to track symptoms is that I've had a couple of shitty days at the beginning of this week.

I had a super light bout of brain fuzz or maybe even vertigo. Not sure. (Yes, I've had the typo of vertigo that causes the entire room to spin. It wasn't that.)

This was accompanied by what I'd call a depressive episode.

    I'm feeling fine now.

What caused it? Fuck me if I know.

What got me out of it? Fuck me if I know.

The vertigo visits me from time to time. I don't think it is worsening, but I don't have good enough memory to know. Hence, the symptom tracker.

  10. I was going to ask what people do to keep track of symptoms.

Then I remembered I'm running Nextcloud at home. I searched the net, found a derelict app that was made specifically for health. Lucky for me that in the README they explained that the app wouldn't be updated anymore, but they pointed to the Tables app (and Analytics... I think) as replacements.

I installed the Tables app. I created a table for my symptoms with a date, and a description field, and voilà.

I also installed the Tables companion app on my phone.

No need to investigate a ton of other apps that won't satisfy my needs or (more likely) will be overly complex.

I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship between the Tables app and me.

  14. RE: kamu.social/@JankaWessman/1162

I especially appreciate this point ~ that discontent is necessary as an indication that something needs attention. It’s the whole #symptoms are #messengers idea. If we just try to push #suffering away so we can be “normal” and functional, we might never understand the cause.

This is #dhamma territory for me. We need to build #distress #tolerance so we can turn toward pain ~ unless it is debilitating or causing harm of course ~ with wisdom and see the causes, not just the symptoms.

  17. CW: Doctors, needles, gross bodily fluids

As a disabled person I’m so tired of visiting doctors/etc. so much. I don’t even go to them as much as some folks but I feel drained just thinking about it. I don’t have a fear of the setting or needles. Still I do get anxious even when it’s with someone that I’ve seen several times. Anyway. I have to go to get looked at because I still have bronchitis symptoms. (Bloody mucus being coughed up, real fun /s) I don’t care for that or for driving to go get prescriptions afterward.
