I have created two collections on Subvert.fm to help me with Electre Selecteh -- and maybe you find them useful too?
Electre Selecteh - a cumulative collection of music featured by @electre
https://www.subvert.fm/@icaria36/electre-selectehAre you on Mastodon? -- a rotating collection of musicians that I'm trying to contact (not always easy) to ask them if they are on the Fediverse (required for Electre Selecteh).

Released a new track on #subvertfm - it's an ill-advised attempt to make the #folk classic Constant Billy into a #hyperpop song (#hyperfolk!?)
It's a pretty tough ask when I'm unwilling to commit to a paid version of #ableton so I'm working with 8 tracks, limited sounds, and no idea what I'm doing, but I learned SO much and I'm really having fun with this new hobby.
The song genuinely brings me so much joy to listen to, which is what's important 😊

I have made a bit of homework assessing Subvert.fm against the principles of The Social Music Network: https://the.socialmusic.network/t/subvert-gone-live-today/804/5
Basically: a very interesting and promising project, understandably busy with themselves prior to their launch, and hopefully investing soon in interoperability, federation, and collaboration with other social music projects.
(btw, they are on @subvertworld )
-
@incentive I have a similar question about #subvertfm on https://the.socialmusic.network/t/subvert-gone-live-today/804/4 and I wonder what would @nham say. 🙂
Is Subvert.fm a fair distribution platform?
-
We're proud to be supporters of Subvert.fm, a streaming and digital distribution service owned and governed collectively by artists, fans, labels, and workers. We continue to be impressed by their growth, which warms our little co-op heart.
Support the subversion.

Thoughts so far-
Bandwagon - Federated. Cool. Open source. Cool. Easy to setup payments. Quick fedistribution (??) with indie beat. Track-by-track upload is a pain, but other than that its great.
Mirlo - Federated. Cool. Open source. Cool. Easy to upload files in batch and not much work to fill out track data. Feature wise has the most potential I think.
Subvert - Not federated. Not open source. Site works well but I still feel weird about it.
-
Both Mirlo and Subvert's music players stay in focus when browsing around the site. Amazing.

Evil Genius Chronicles Podcast for July 17 2026 - You Can Be Disappointed But Don't Be SurprisedDownload audioOn this show, I play a song from Dirty South; one hive is in trouble so we requeened; bees are stressful; I joined an adult summer reading challenge; I hate how well gamification works on me; Nathan Lowell suggested a book and I took him up on it; I like The Expanse and Eternal Champion books but I need a break from high stakes; Nathan Lowell talked about community service as punishment; my kid's school requires community service; my fraternity was sentenced to community service and really embarrassed themselves; I was roach wrangler; I hate drive-throughs; I am not impressed by cars; most fast food is gross; McDonalds fries have an 11 minute window of edibility.

you can have multiple artist pages on @[email protected] now so XylitolDX is finally on there! still gotta add older releases but Norever Plaza is available, with half off for subvert members!

XylitolDX - Subvert -
I'm gradually uploading all of my releases to @subvertworld
There are four albums on there so far, with free downloads for Subvert members, and free previewing for everyone. I plan to add everything soon.
I really like what I see of Subvert, which is owned by its members. It seems a very viable alternative to Bandcamp for those who want such a thing.

Evil Genius Chronicles Podcast for July 10 2026 - Leaving Future Dave Holding the BagDownload audioOn this show, I play a song from Elour; the kid lit all the fireworks; it's too dry for roman candles; clutter is physical procrastination; I'm trying to carry stuff immediately without piling it for later transfer; do the tedious stuff at the first opportunity rather than when disaster strikes; I killed a day in Columbia writing mobilely about how I didn't need a mobile writing tool; right after I stopped caringm the PocketMage campaign went live; I still use the Boox Note Air 4C; I still use the DIY TRMNL; I barely use the Heltec Lora V4; I might try to fix the charging ports on the stack of kid Kindle Fires because what do I have to lose?

Evil Genius Chronicles Podcast for July 3 2026 - I Made It Work Because I Forgot It Didn't WorkDownload audioOn this show, I play a song from Rain Garden; I think a lot about people who live in those remote houses on the highway; there is a power in living somewhere cheap; I feel jealous of people older than me that still have living parents; I got most angry at my dad for not being alive when my child was born; in a weird way, you only become your true self when all your parents are dead; it's unlikely any two of the millions of podcasts have the same workflow; every family is its own weird cult; my father arguing with me about the math of permutations was a big event; if I need an account to read your article then I ain't reading it; I am intrigued by balcony solar; even without storage solar helps with heat waves; tags.pub had a weird pushback; I just block people who bug me and I don't feel bad about it; I fixed my Forgejo action runner on a machine it never previously worked on because I forgot I was fixing the wrong machine.

I have a public playlist on Subvert.fm for the collection of songs I ran across and thought were interesting enough to consider playing on my podcast.
-
Seeing lots of posts about SubvertFM now. Went to peep and see its live and operational, but the platform itself is proprietary and not open sourced. How serious are the founders about subverting?
-
My zine/manifesto/book/whatever you want to call it from subvert.fm arrived today!
subvert is like bandcamp but worker owned, as everything owned by someone else on the internet gets enshittified. subvert isn't only a precaution against that, it's a better way to run a company! They're my first go-to when I'm looking for new music, and I pretty much always end up with some.
Check em out. https://subvert.fm

Evil Genius Chronicles Podcast for June 5 2026 - Spoons, ManDownload audioOn this show, I play a song from Lindi Ortega; I relate a couple of witticisms from the child and tell tales of new driver excitement; Kendrick Lamar's merch was fugly but SZA's was great; I tell the tale of mishandling a thigh cramp; Subvert.fm is my new first place to look for new show music; I explain why Baen Books and the Maximum Fun Network occupy similar boxes in my brain; the author I could not think of was Jack McDevitt, truly one of the nice guys of SF; once again I appear to be losing a fediverse account to a server meltdown; back up your Bookwyrm accounts, people; stories of real life adventurers bore the shit out of me; Steven Tobolowsky does not interest me; I would listen to a companion podcast to Scott Edelman's Eating the Fantastic that was only the food talk; unlike my father, I survived breaking my ribs.

Just spent some cash buying music from a bunch of independent artists on a co-op music platform then added them to my home media server for all the family to enjoy. And the solarpunk future feels just a smidge closer to reality 💚

Hopefully my disorganized web 1.0 approach to presenting my music online is enough to cut the mustard for #subvertfm to allow me to join as a label for all my different projects 🌭

sweets, I joined @subvert.fm and uploaded my latest release, if you value music, consider using it, it is a music coop and AI-free #subvertfm #freequ
have a look!

This subvert.fm playlist offers tracks from indie artists you might hear on breakfast radio. Covers art pop, indie, edm, grunge, alternative, folk, synth pop.
https://www.subvert.fm/@deelion/radio-subvee-breakfast-show
Subvert.fm is a platform owned by artists & supporters, so well worth your time.
Hoping this playlist makes it easy to dive in, even if you're not into the vast selection of ambient, experimental & drone (+ should be able to listen without an account?)

I just finished setting up my SubvertFM ( @subvertworld ) page with all of my main releases. Seeing more alternatives to Bandcamp that are focused on artists is super exciting. I’m looking forward to focusing my attention on platforms like this for releasing new music. All of my releases have discounts for members.
