Everyday I curse at this stupid fuckin' Chinese mesh office chair (by #Sihoo) I got some years ago. It's comfortable, but it's ridiculously fragile and brittle for something that costs ~1k MYR.
I can't stand leather, so I can only get mesh chairs - before this I used a different mesh chair by #IKEA that was a lot more sturdy for a lot cheaper, but far less comfortable. I'll take this as a lesson tho to spend the extra k or 2 (or more) on a known-brand mesh chair like #HermanMiller or more realistically, #Steelcase.
They may cost (a lot) more but at least there's no question about their comfort/quality, and some of em even come with ridiculously long warranty periods like 12 years - for just 1k+ extra than some Chinese knock-off. -
Juhu, ich habe einen "neuen" Schreibttischstuhl! 🥳
Auf meiner letzten Arbeit hatte ich einen Steelcase Please, den ich mitnehmen konnte, weil einige Sachen defekt waren. Jetzt war aber wirklich alles daran kaputt, nachdem ich ihn 16 Jahre malträtiert hatte. Zum Glück gibt es Kleinanzeigen, neu sind die Teile ja quasi unbezahlbar. Und gebraucht auch noch gar nicht mal soo günstig.
Muss mich jetzt erstmal daran gewöhnen, dass der nicht mehr so durchgenudelt ist 😄

I’d mentioned that my Steelcase card index came without the traditional card stops/follower blocks at the back of the drawers. Needing a solution for this, I’ve discovered that my local Daiso sells small, simple bookends for $1.75 for a pair and they’re the perfect size (7 x 8.9 x 9.2 cm) for the drawers. These seem to do the trick nicely, though they do tend to slide within the metal drawers without any friction. Giving them small rubber feet or museum putty from the hardware store for a few cents more fixes this quickly.

One of the drawers on the was sticking. After 10 minutes of comparison and troubleshooting, it turns out one of the rails on the chassis was bent enough to jam the ball bearing from rolling. Unsticking it and then a quick hammer to put the rail back in place has fixed it.
