I will say that it feels like a fait accompli at this point that VP Harris will choose either Senator Kelly or Secretary Buttigieg and I don't think either is a bad pick necessarily. Just... and I know this is my stuffy old man thing, but they feel like "political" options for whom, whatever policy and expertise they bring could be better addressed by another pick.

I know and understand that picking a VP based on delivering votes is "more important" than picking one who will be better helping to run the country, I do. Still, the last remaining shreds of my idealism wishes for a candidate more like Stavridis, or even Hillary, tbh, rather than somebody whose primary qualifications are geography and potential votes, secondary to which is their ability to serve in the role and aid a President Harris with governance.

Since people are throwing out names for VP, I'm going to make the same suggestion I had for Clinton in 2016 and hasn't been a good option since, until now: Admiral James Stavridis.

There is probably not a single person on the planet better equipped to serve as a VP under a young President while trying to wrangle Europe to Ukraine's defense. As a bonus, Indys like military officials and his resume would make them wet their pants in excitement.

He won't be named, nobody will even suggest him, but he would be a good pick.
