Star Wars: Zero Company to w dużym skrócie XCOM w świecie Gwiezdnych Wojen.

In summary, almost great but falls short. If performance fixes are put in, I would definitely love to jump back in and give it a go.
But there's also the uncertainty around the furloughing situation at BitReactor. I'm seeing some reports that the furlough was genuinely due to the studio running out of money, and they've already started bringing people back and potentially back paying them.
If that's the case, that's probably the best outcome that could be hoped for. However, if it's not:
- Scumbag developer
- Probably no new content or performance fixes coming in any sort of meaningful way.
So yeah, uncertain future for this game.

Rolled credits on Star Wars: Zero Company last night.
Honestly, this game was so close to greatness.
Mechanics wise - great. It's a polished form of the XCOM formula updated for the 2020s (it's hard to believe XCOM 2 has been out a decade already 🫠). The Infinite Coil mechanics in particular are interesting and do require some use of strategy to navigate, especially early-mid game.
Story is interesting, unique but with callbacks to established canon events of the dying days of the Old Republic. Some cameos from well known characters in the franchise - and to me they feel genuinely additive rather than tacked on.
The game length? Took me about 30 hours to complete it, taking it fairly easily and spending some time customising characters and the like. For me, that's probably not long enough. The length of the main story is probably about right but the endgame seems to come very quickly. But there could have been a bit more side content I feel.
Performance? One level above hot garbage. And strangely, it seems as though it performs comparatively worse on higher spec systems.
On my Lenovo Legion Go (which is definitely showing starting to show its age) the performance was acceptable (30-40FPS with performance mode FSR).
Playing on my desktop was an interesting experience. I'm on a 5950X, 4090 and 64GB of RAM so last gen top of the line. The framerate itself was fairly consistently strong with the odd stutter and frame dip. But there was really weird texture and LOD pop in that really broke the immersion in cut scenes and the like.
Also had a couple of what I'll call soft locks during combat (the game was still functioning, it could be paused but after an enemy unit finished its "Resonance" animation it just didn't continue to the next phase of combat).
I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt that running Linux contributed to the weird graphical issues but it seems like most people have reported problems.
