Having found something to eat, we began making our way back down towards where the car was parked. We meandered in to the remains of Holyrood church, where the Southampton Salty Sea Dogs were singing shanties
What was nice about this setup is that after the war, Holyrood church was dedicated as a memorial to sailors in the merchant navy. So the setting was apt.

We were just about to make our way up the high street to find something to eat, when suddenly: DRUMS
Batala Samba band from Portsmouth were banging out some splendid rhythms up in Arundel gardens, atop Southampton's walls.

After that was a visit to the Castle Vault, where the New Forest Community Tango Orchestra were playing Argentine tango. They were wonderful.
Then two women in the audience started dancing with each other, which was lovely.

Next stop was the Youth Stage in King John's Palace, where a bunch of young people from Hampshire and the Isle of Wight were given a chance to perform a couple of tracks. Some were more successful than others, but all got a rousing applause.

For the next stop, we were back down in the vaults for an indie/folk trio named Palookaville. I enjoyed them. Quite Turin Brakes.

The fourth stop was one of excellent contrast. Outside in St Michael's square, there was a DJ dropping the Tarzan & Jane of jungle. It was, in the modern parlance, slamming, and I was loving it.
Inside the church, the Riverside Concert Band were playing a rousing performance of 'I Will Follow Him', which you may know from Sister Act.
