Thomas Taylor, Anglican priest, says the rich man (Dives) from Luke 16 suffered because of neglect of the poor, which is to be expected next to fine dining. He immediately jumps to pastors needing to be able to endure hunger.
Why the connection?
And what of Taylor’s claim that concentratations of luxurious eating correlate to neglect of the poor. Is this true of our vacation spots today?

Arthur Hildersham, English Puritan, discusses advocacy. He says he’s sorry, but it’s good for a pastor to plead for the poor, as Paul was asked to do in Galatians 2.
There is a biblical precedent for telling a respected preacher with top-notch theology that they would still need to remember the poor, to plead for them. And such excellent preachers would be glad to be reminded.
