It's not our technology nor our political system nor even the Demon Capitalism bringing us down.
The problem is our mythologies.
Another way to say that is: how each culture excuses their systemic inequalities.
Like: why fellow 'citizens' exercise their constitutional 'rights' weathering winters (plural) in broken tents.
