Entry from my "goodpolicy" inventory: the pieces of legislation that my #SOFTWAREAct is being broken up into
-
@ariadne @MarcNo @libreleah @dalias @msw ok so I'm still not managing to give the optimal 9 days notice here, but hopefully 2 is an improvement over 1? Another bill broken off from last term's #SOFTWAREAct is getting its hearing this week: HB589: https://gencourt.state.nh.us/lsr_search/billText.aspx?id=192&type=4
This is basically the part to make New Hampshire a "Sanctuary State" for FOSS devs fleeing harassment from overly-litigious proprietary software companies.

Attention #FreeSoftware advocates: Did you catch my #SOFTWAREAct in the NH Legislature last year? Well, part of the feedback that I got on it was that I was trying to do too much in one bill, so this year I have split it up into several bills, two of which are being heard before the NH House Executive Departments & Administration Committee tomorrow! (Sorry for the short notice; I got behind on emails)
Specifically, the two bills being heard tomorrow are HB366, prohibiting certain noncompete clauses and nondisclosure agreements regarding free software projects and the sharing of open source software, and HB327, prohibiting the state from requiring the public use proprietary software when visiting state websites (which is basically to provide for #LibreJS compatibility on state websites).
HB366 text: https://gencourt.state.nh.us/lsr_search/billText.aspx?id=187&type=4
HB327 text: https://gencourt.state.nh.us/lsr_search/billText.aspx?id=189&type=4
It's probably too late by now to come and testify, but you can still contact the committee members via this page: https://gencourt.state.nh.us/house/committees/committeedetails.aspx?id=3

Maryland Delegate Vaughn Stewart probably supports the pieces of legislation that my #SOFTWAREAct is being broken up into, which is nice (if they don't, they should)

Good luck to all those testifying today in support of the #SOFTWAREAct! https://u.fsf.org/3hj

In the New Hampshire area? Go testify in support of the #SOFTWAREAct on Tuesday, at 10:30 AM at the Legislative Office Building in Concord! https://u.fsf.org/3hj
