  2. An update on the status of the race for my House seat: When I last posted about it, the 2 Dems interested in running for it were Jason Quinno and Tom Brennan. However, they have decided to run for the floterial instead, so now Nate Giffard is running for my seat. I met him today, and he seems good. Since he is now the only Dem running for the seat, I'd like to officially endorse him for the position. He's running on a platform of housing, general affordability, and civil rights. Here's a link to his website:

  4. Even though I'm not running for re-election this November, I still get one more filing period for new legislation in September for my potential successors to pick up from me, so I'm still attempting to keep my legislation ideas repository at least somewhat up-to-date:

  6. Since I won't be running for reelection in the fall myself, I'll be available to work on other people's campaigns. Let me know if you are hiring!

  7. An announcement: Many of you may know that I am in a long-distance relationship. My fiancée @CJluvsMJ27 has recently made some serious progress in searching for a house where the both of us can live, so it's looking more and more likely that I will be leaving New Hampshire to go live with her soon. For this reason, I'd like to announce that I won't be running for reelection in 2026. There are 2 candidates that I know of who have expressed interest in filling my seat for me after I leave: Tom Brennan and Jason Quinno. Either of them would be strong progressives who align with my values, so I encourage any constituents to vote for either of them in the contested primary this September.

No Kings events today were good, similar turnout to previous events I've attended.

My reflection for today: it's been 30 days since we started war. It's estimated to cost $2bil/day. So, $60bil total. You can fund the NH state budget for 8 years. You can fund all NH public schools for 15 years.

Disgusting stuff, but seeing folks of a similar mindset gives me some hope.

  11. I am continually pointing out (usually just to myself) that in order to be “pro-“ some interest you must be, at least implicitly, “anti-“ some other set of interests. Usually, this is in relation to my employer pushing their PAC’s supposedly neutral “pro-business” position which is going to be anti-worker, or the same position of my local politicians, which may also be anti-consumer. Recently, my home state decided to remove the requirement for motor vehicle inspections; apparently, at the behest of automotive mechanics tired of doing them. The purpose of the inspections wasn’t to drive those mechanics business; it was to maintain a minimum level of roadworthiness for vehicles and thereby increase public safety! So, I guess to the usual anti-worker and anti-consumer, the “pro-business” position of my local pols is now also anti-public.

It took longer than planned sold my home, lost my mom, custody battles, and apparently that still wasn’t enough grief for #NHpolitics.

I’m not going easy on either side.

  14. User:ForestHag has created a Wikipedia article for "New Hampshire Education Freedom Accounts" (or our "EFA" program for short); I encourage any Wikipedians who follow me (and who are free of conflicts of interest) to check the article for neutrality, comprehensiveness, and verifiability:

  15. NH young people fighting ICE, fighting for their freedom, with few resources. They are friends of a friend of mine. Even if, like me, you don't know them personally, consider tossing in $10 to help. Many hands makes the difference.
