A lot of responsibility for ensuring equity in the classroom falls very unfairly on the shoulders of teachers who are undertrained, overworked, underpaid, and overstressed - to say nothing of completely lacking in systemic resources.

I see posts of all kinds calling for teachers to make their spaces and lessons more inclusive, but these calls often come without a focus on what ACTUALLY needs to change - systemtic problems at the heart of our education system, and therefor our society.

Drink Spiking:
Offenders may try to play down alcohol as a form of drink spiking by saying ‘it’s just a joke’ in their failed sexual advances.
But there are people who have allergic reactions to Alcohol. Others who can only tolerate a certain level or form of alcohol.
A close friend of mine would end up in ER, if spiking were to happen to her.

For most others it leads to a level of trauma/hyper vigilance where they can no longer light-heartedly enjoy the night life. Romance can’t happen when women fear such predatory behaviours like sexual harassment and spiking.
