I would be pleased that apparently I've successfully helped my technophobic mom feel confident buying prints of my bird photos off #SmugMug, except that now when I show her a fresh bird photo she likes, she says "Post it for purchase!" I've already got such a photo backlog, and now I literally have my mom nagging me to do my 'homework'!
(Including red-shouldered hawk photo she said this about as Bird Tax.)

I didn't realize SmugMug (and #Flickr) are a family business. I've been a happy, paying Flick user for 10 or 15 years now. I appreciate how they do one thing well, and aren't looking for new ways to farm engagement or serve ads.

2025 OIPA Premiere Photos
The first event of my 2025 indoor season is in the books. I took a record 1406 photos (!) this year, almost 500 more than what I took at last year’s Premiere event.
I have uploaded the photos to my Smugmug account. Note that these are the unedited photos, straight from the camera, so some will look better than others.

@geoff_eg @virtuous_sloth oh I thought you were selling photos on #Smugmug. For a photography portfolio and blog site, #GoHugo is a great choice. Rendering pages in Hugo only takes a zippy -- like 1000 pages inclusive of tags and pagination pages in less than 1 second. You just need to be brave enough to face the terminal.

Zur Zeit behelfe ich mir mit einem öffentlichen Album bei #Smugmug, ist aber in Sachen 'social...' nicht so prall. Bin auf der Suche....

Been thinking of selling some prints online. Just canceled my Fine Art America account after 4 days because I had technical issues from the start & they only have email, no chat or phone #. When "customer service" replied 4 days later they said "check in settings". And that was it. May as well have told me turn my computer on/off.
Looking at alternatives.
#Photographers, what is your experince w/ #Zenfolio and #Smugmug. Opinions, boosts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Kevin and I follow each other on #Flickr - the once great and great again photo-sharing site that survived decades of abuse from Yahoo and Verizon before being taken indie and rescued by the #SmugMug folks.

App Store celebrates its 15th birthday.
The first app I ever downloaded from the #AppStore (according to the purchase history) was @bigzaphod's #Twitterrific.
It was THE app for #Twitter. Who would have thought back then that Twitter would be driven to ruin by a egomaniac manchild billionaire 15 years later? How enthusiastic and naive we were back then.
The second app was SmugShot for @d0n 's #SmugMug
(This initial account was an Austrian one and is no longer used regularly)

If you are interested in *where* I took a particular photograph on my website www.alexanderwild.com, click on “photo details” and you’ll get EXIF data and a little navigable map at the bottom.
I have been automatically geotagging my photos since about 2014, and am working through the older ones to add that information.

I set up a website to share my love of photography, technology, social media and more. I considered #Wix, #SmugMug and #Squarespace. I chose Wix because it had better social previews, better display options and a strong blogging platform. Depending on your goals, you might choose differently.
