  1. This #startup raised $8M to store #cleanenergy under the #sea
#SizableEnergy is reimagining pumped #hydro storage for the sea. Instead of using freshwater and #dams, company’s system uses saturated sea-salt brine – about 20% denser than #seawater – that moves between a floating reservoir and a deep-water reservoir. By harnessing gravity and #ocean depth, it can store and release gigawatt-scale power without the land use or environmental impact of onshore hydro projects.

    >> #SizableEnergy is a clever name for the startup.

#ReflectOrbital, a #US company, is pitching giant mirrors in space to reflect sunlight at night.

Let's hope that the benefits from this one too are sizable and the costs insignificant.

#SizableEnergy is a clever name for the startup.

Let's hope that the energy generated by gravity working on a density gradient to turn turbines is "sizable" enough to offset the energy required to pump sizable amounts of brine from a tank on the seabed to a floating tank on the sea surface.

Wouldn't turbines turn more efficiently in deep ocean cross currents?
