What a fucking joke. This company will crash and burn as open source models for generative AI make paying them money unnecessary. And we wonder why the tech industry is suffering.

Transparently, that's what they've been doing since the beginning. Dis-intermediating the curious mind from experts to display an ad along the way. Don't get me wrong, it's hard to use a library without a card catalog. But at least someone made sure the source material was honestly cataloged.

The media hype is trying to sell a bad "Cliff Notes" that couldn't actually handle a novel length item, let alone a complex concept. It can't even really decide what source material is fiction or fact.
Let's call it what it is. A glorified attempt by search engine companies to further remove inquisitive users from actual source material.

I had a great discussion with one of my favorite data scientists yesterday. We were testing out the usefulness of the Chat GPT system and I have to say I'm really disappointed.
What can it do? It can really only do one thing better than prior Natural Language Processing models, summarize an article.

@Brightlady_Lise totally agree. To be fair, Apple/ #SillyConValley made computers into consumer products in the first place, without which none of us would have ever had access to one, and the first generation of personal computers were made to last and to be repairable / upgradeable. (1/2)
