Was just thinking that as late as the 90s a lot of sequels to hit movies were lower budget, lower effort cash in affairs that sometimes even went straight to video or the rights were sold to people like Roger Corman or Cannon. Even after big trilogies like Star Wars and Back to the Future it took Hollywood a long time to realize sequels to hit films was actually big money making opportunities if they gave a damn about them and gave them big budgets and sometimes gave them even bigger budgets than the first.
Not sure what made them finally realize that, maybe it was the Batman movies?
