Brave eliminated its free Search API tier, replacing it with $5 monthly credits that cover ~1,000 queries before billing kicks in. Previous users had 5,000 free queries monthly. Credit cards once promised to "never be charged" now become active billing instruments.

With Microsoft's Bing API gone, Brave remains the only independent Western search index at scale for developers.
