Qué bueno que al final no fui al cine por la nueva #ScaryMovie porque la acabo de ver y me pareció tan horrenda que creo genuinamente que la 5 es mucho mejor; ahí al menos se entendía lo que pasaba. 😩

Scary Movie (2026)
They really ought to rename it Silly Movie or Stupid Movie.
Twenty-six years after escaping a strangely familiar masked killer, the saga’s iconic heroes are once again in the murderer’s sights, and no horror film franchise is safe.
Yes, I had a laugh once or twice, maybe three! Because it’s absolutely rubbish!!!
Ghostface is back… much to our misfortune! I watched it right to the end. The bonus scenes are rubbish too. We’re starting to get used to it.
Just to recap, I’d already hated the first Scary Movie (2000). Everything about it is vulgar and degrading. The only scenes that are actually funny are, in fact, the ones with Ghostface. But that couldn’t keep working in this day and age. It was directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans. I’m really not a fan of the brothers (who, on top of that, are always encouraging people to smoke weed). The only one of their films I like is this one: Scary Movie 2 (2001). It’s still just as racy, but with a touch of subtlety… which, of course, won’t be picked up on by many people.
Scary Movie 3 (2003) is good because it’s no longer a Wayans film. It’s directed by Jerry Zucker, who’s responsible for far funnier films such as Airplane! (1980) or the remake Rat Race (2001). That said, Jerry also, surprisingly, directed the very serious Ghost (1990), which is quite a significant cult film.
Scary Movie 3 also boasts a fabulous cast, including Charlie Sheen, Jenny McCarthy, Leslie Nielsen, Pamela Anderson, Anna Faris, Regina Hall and Denise Richards.
Scary Movie 4 (2006) was directed by his brother; David, for example, directed The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988).
Scary Movie 5 (2013) didn’t really make an impression on me. I can’t say whether I liked it or not. The cast was great, though, featuring Charlie Sheen, Heather Locklear, Lindsay Lohan, Kate Walsh, Regina Hall, Ashley Tisdale and Jerry O’Connell. I’ll have to watch it again. It was directed by Malcolm D. Lee, who’s never really made any films that’ve interested me. What a shame!
What’s quite incredible is that this Scary Movie 6 is the worst of them all! It’s quite hard to believe, actually. There are too many references to the first one, and I could definitely have done without them. It felt like an age to watch and was a bit too much of a slog.
Yet with nods to Jester, The Substance, Nosferatu, Scream, Get Out and Megan, it could only have been an undisputed masterpiece! Alas, it’s just a dud, and an undisputed piece of rubbish at that.
So we’re reunited with the very first cast, comprising Anna Faris, Jon Abrahams, Regina Hall, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Chris Elliott and… unfortunately also Dave Sheridan, who plays Special Agent Doofy – a parody of Deputy Sheriff Dewey Riley in Scream (1996) – and who also provides the voice for the eponymous killer Ghostface in the first Scary Movie. None of these characters are funny, not even those who used to be, like Anna or Regina.
The return of the original cast should have filled me with joy. Well, no: it’s just a complete washout. I know it’s aiming very low to begin with, but this time it doesn’t even get off the ground! It’s even missing the essential element of the genre: good humour!!! At least the poster isn’t misleading: they really have made a complete mess of it.
I actually read this comment: ‘Then again, the poster did say “we’ve made a complete mess of it again”, and for once I should have believed it.’
Scary Movie 6 is both a reboot and a sequel. But it all falls flat!
It’s worth noting that Agent Doofy is the funniest thing in the film for some people. That says it all!!!
The first ten minutes are already a let-down, and it’s really hard to keep watching. This is absolutely not the comeback we were hoping for. It’s not funny at all. Nothing like parts 2, 3 and 4. It’s disjointed, too Gen Z, even though the target audience was supposed to be Millennials.
A cinematic disaster. Who on earth would produce something like this and pour money into it? Who would pay 12 quid to go and see this at the cinema? Who???
You’d really have to be the dullest knife in the drawer or the dimest bulb in the chandelier…
Parodying the slasher films of the ’80s and ’90s by stringing together references and well-crafted gags was, after all, a good idea to begin with. But to bring back, in 2026, the same team, with the original cast, to try and make people laugh by repeating the same formulas in a much more over-the-top and even more vulgar way, shocking audiences with material that’s right on the edge… …this only leads to one conclusion: it’s a disaster and utterly rubbish. No! Racking up below-the-belt jokes whilst parodying all the recent hits doesn’t necessarily make for a good script!
And yes, I’ll say it again: the worst of the worst is that this is the worst in the franchise! The Wayans brothers’ film respects nothing and no one. Not even its audience! Everyone gets a proper bashing. You’re forced to sit through the film, wearing increasingly awkward smiles as the minutes tick by.
The only real entertainment value of the film is spotting the films being parodied. In short, it’s an overdose of vulgarity and swear words of every kind, culminating in a final sequence that’s utterly overloaded with self-satisfaction and utter nonsense.
In the end, Scary Movie has become exactly what it set out to parody and now joins the endless stream of rubbish that hits the cinemas every week. And that’s what’s truly terrifying!!!

🌕🌕🌖🌑🌑I went in to this with low expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was not terrible, but also not great. 50% of the script is actually fun. When I could ignore the "anti woke" humour, I did find myself chuckling along. However, the ending is certainly a choice...

Y, bueno, decepcionado. No me estoy riendo.

What To Watch On YouTube Right Now – Part 146
Welcome back my readers, YouTube viewers and all others who followed this series of articles focused on YouTube videos worth watching.
Have you been searching for something fun or interesting to watch on YouTube? Do you feel bored right now and you crave for something to see on the world’s most popular online video destination?
I recommend you check out the following videos I found.
#1 Varied Scary Movie 3 Reaction Videos – After enjoying Scary Movie (2000), I eventually saw Scary Movie 2 in a California cinema and it was disappointing due to its rushed and uninspired presentation. More than two years later, I saw Scary Movie 3 in a packed cinema here in the Philippines. Directed by David Zucker – part of the famous Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker (ZAZ) – Scary Movie 3 does not quite match the fun and quality of the original film of 2000 but it was still a huge improvement over Scary Movie 2. Not only that, the 2003 film had Anna Faris back as Cindy Campbell while the legendary comedian Leslie Nielsen was a notable addition. To see how much of an impact Scary Movie 3 has with YouTubers, watch and selected video reactions below.

#3 Ranting For Vengeance Looks At Great Comics That Actually Suck – What do you think makes a comic book great? Could it be because of the creators’ work, the storytelling style, real-world events that inspired the creative process, or the reputation of the creators who made it? In his video from 2025, Ranting for Vengeance examines that comics that were perceived to be great but sucked. Watch his video and pay close attention to the details and his explanations.

#4 Ashleigh Burton Reacts To Weird Science – If you have read comic books of Weird Science, could you see their connection with the 1985 science fiction teen comedy film Weird Science? Directed by the late John Hughes, Weird Science follows two nerdy social outcast high school students who have had enough of being humiliated by others and enduring disappointing lives. Together, the two plan to make the perfect dream woman come true using a computer while hacking a government computer system. As it is loosely based on the Weird Science series of EC Comics, the film was a notable product of its time and it remains a memorable part of 1980s Hollywood cinema. To see if it has any entertainment impact, watch Ashleigh Burton’s reaction video now.

#5 Sega’s F355 Challenge Revisited – During a visit to Gameworx inside Festival Mall in 1999, I saw the arcade game F355 Challenge from Sega. After marveling at its graphics during the first several minutes, I bought arcade tokens to play it. To my surprise, F355 Challenge was a racing simulation as it was designed with in-depth driving realism in mind. Yu Suzuki (Virtua Fighter) was the man who produced and directed the game, and in my opinion F355 Challenge has to be played in its original arcade form while the Sega Dreamcast port is the alternative. To see what F355 Challenge has to offer gamers, watch the video below.

#6 Penalties On Littering At Shibuya – Shibuya is one of the most lively urban spots in Japan. Located in Tokyo, is a special ward where visitors can enjoy the immense commercial joints and it is now the premiere hub for youth culture. Sadly, as Japan is attracting tens of millions of foreign tourists each year, littering at Shibuya has gone up tremendously. Fortunately, the local authorities are taking action again littering and those who littered will be penalized when they are caught. Learn from the Nippon TV video below.

#7 GoodBadFlicks Reviews The Bees – Way back in the late-1980s, the 1978 horror movie The Bees was shown on local TV and it drew a large audience. I cannot forget the time when a classmate of mine got so scared watching it. The Bees is a Mexican production that had the late John Saxon in a major role. To see the quality and production details of The Bees, watch the video of GoodBadFlicks below.

A Look Back at Scary Movie (2000)
Disclaimer: This is my original work with details by doing personal research and watching the movie more than once. Welcome back, film buffs and fellow geeks. Today, we go back to the year 2000 which saw the release of the original Scary Movie. It was a parody film that poked fun on the slasher film genre with Scream (1996) and I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) as the major references. For teen comedy, it parodied American Pie (1999) which in my opinion is its 3rd main reference.
After getting released in cinemas in July 2000, Scary Movie (with a production budget of less than $20 million) opened way beyond everyone’s expectations grossing a then record $42.3 million (the highest opening weekend for an R-rated movie). It ended with over $157 million in North America and its worldwide total was at $278,019,771. By comparison, Scream (1996) grossed $173 million worldwide while I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) had global ticket sales of $125.6 million.
Months later, Scary Movie opened here in the Philippines and I was fortunate enough to have seen it in one of Festival Mall’s original cinemas (1998-2024). After that, I replayed Scary Movie on DVD and cable TV, and saw most of its sequels.
With the newest Scary Movie (2026) playing in cinemas around the world, it is not surprising that the original Scary Movie of 2000 suddenly got featured in YouTube retrospective videos, retro movie reviews, movie podcasts and the like. Indeed, now is a good time to look back at the one movie that led to a franchise.
With those details laid down, here is a look back at Scary Movie (2000) starring Anna Faris, Marlon Wayans, Jon Abrahams, Dave Sheridan, Regina Hall, Shawn Wayans, Shannon Elizabeth, and Lochlyn Munro under the direction of Keenen Ivory Wayans.
The movie poster.Early story
The story begins on the night of Halloween. A student named Drew (Carmen Electra) is alone at home and was about to cook herself some popcorn when she suddenly received a telephone call. The talk over the phone start friendly until Drew realizes she’s being watched by the caller. Suddenly a person dressed as Ghostface appears inside her house forcing her to make hasty decisions to survive.
Drew runs outside. As Ghostface grabs her, Drew’s clothes fall off exposing her body and underwear. Ghostface stabs her on the breast only to remove one of her silicone implants. Drew notices their family car approaching fast but she got hit accidentally as her father (the driver) was distracted. Ghostface eventually kills Drew.
A very short time later, the local high school got swarmed by several members of the press. The murder of Drew caused a major disturbance there. At school, Cindy Campbell meets with her boy friend Bobby Prinze, and their friends Brenda Meeks, Ray Wilkins, Greg Phillippe, Buffy Gilmore, and Shorty.
During class, Cindy notices Ghostface watching from a distance. She opens an anonymous letter with a message from the writer that he knows what happened during the previous Halloween. This compels Cindy and her friends to reflect about the hit-and-run accident they were involved in the previous year. They assume the masked killer stalking them is seeking revenge for the cover-up…
Quality
From Left to Right: Shannon Elizabeth as Buffy, Shawn Wayans as Ray, Lochlyn Munro as Greg, Anna Faris as Cindy and Jon Abrahams as Bobby. This old movie is still very entertaining to watch. Under Keenen Ivory Wayans’ direction and his brothers’ involvement in writing the script, there is a strong emphasis on parodying films with the adult moviegoers in mind, and there definitely is a strong storytelling structure all throughout. There is a fine mix of comedy, horror, action and pop culture references throughout.
The comedic scenes or acts were done organically. Not one funny scene felt fake nor wooden. There definitely is something funny to see most of the time and very few films made me laugh or smile all throughout. When it comes to parodying key scenes from established films like Scream (1996), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), American Pie (1999), Scream 2 (1997), The Sixth Sense (1999), The Blair Witch Project (1999) and The Matrix (1999), the filmmakers went all-in to entertain viewers and I can say they were really successful here.
Apart from making parodies, Wayans and his team even went as far as doing their own remakes of key scenes from Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and American Pie, complete with camera angles that strongly replicated those from the established films. With such creativity and passion behind the efforts, Scary Movie crafted its own narrative and had something fresh to show at a time when the slasher horror sub-genre of film was revitalized in American pop culture during the 1990s. In other words, there is something for American moviegoers to relate with in this film.
A notable parody of The Matrix in the film. The filmmakers knew how to make fun of Scream and other films.Along the way, the filmmakers got fine performances from the cast. To begin with, Anna Faris really stood out as Cindy Campbell and she showed a fine range of acting. Even though she only had a few professional acting credentials at the time of filming, Faris proved she can be the sweet girlfriend towards Bobby (Jon Abrahams), a real friend towards her friends (played by Marlon Wayans, Regina Hill, Shawn Wayans, Shannon Elizabeth, Dave Sheridan and Lochlyn Munro), be broken-hearted in reaction to betrayal, and even be an effective action performer. Faris is also good with executing comedy and her performance parodying the “What are you waiting for?” moment from I Know What You Did Last Summer is a must-see. This movie marks Faris’ breakout role and she became an essential player as the Scary Movie franchise grew in the years that followed.
Dave Sheridan as Doofy is absolutely cartoony and exaggerated, and also one of the more defining characters of the film. Regina Hill as the girlfriend of Shawn Wayans’ character ranges from talkative to annoying. Marlon Wayans is the 2nd most notable performer in the cast and he symbolizes the stoned guy while successfully delivering a lot of funny moments. Lochlyn Munro as Greg is the high-school jock who is arrogant, uptight and even panicky.
Yes, it is all true! Scary Movie (2000) accidentally predicted the rise of transgendered women (males who believe they are female) who displaced, harassed or even harmed real women in America. Even here in my native Philippines, transgendered individuals and LGBTQ members were caught committing criminal acts. Shannon Elizabeth is a lot more than being a pretty face with an attractive body. She acted a lot in this movie ranging from being emotional to sarcastic and comedic. The most surprising cast member here is Shannon Elizabeth as the rich and promiscuous Buffy Gilmore. Before watching Scary Movie, I saw Elizabeth in a small yet very notable sexy role as Nadia in American Pie and I was not surprised when she was presented as a walking sex symbol in this movie. Elizabeth surprised me with the huge amount of acting she did (easily overwhelming her limited acts in American Pie) being emotional, funny, and even sarcastic. As such, Shannon Elizabeth here is memorable to watch here.
As mentioned earlier, there is structure in the storytelling here. Even though a lot of films were parodied and some others were mentioned or visually shown, the filmmakers never lost their direction on telling the story in a coherent manner. In fact, Scary Movie’s story is still the best and the most solid among its many films within the franchise. As such, I enjoyed what was told and there definitely is a plot resolution to the crisis and paranoia that started early.
Conclusion
This scene parodies that of American Pie. The filmmakers went as far as replicating camera angles from the established movies and did their own remakes with comedy in mind. With a nice mix of inspired works by the filmmakers, the fine performances of the cast members, the unrestrained adulterated comedy, sufficient number of parodies done and the solid storytelling executed, I can easily say that Scary Movie (2000) is still very enjoyable to watch from start to finish.
It is a parody film that was never compromised by the disease of political correctness (which Hollywood has too much of nowadays plus the other disease of wokeness) and the filmmakers succeeded in making something fun to watch without fearing of any potential backlash from moviegoers who might get offended. This movie also had perfect timing with its release during the summer of 2000 as many moviegoers were still aware of the many films parodied (or referenced at). By today’s standards, Scary Movie (2000) stood the test of time and many other comedies or parody films released by modern-day Hollywood (or Commiewood since Hollywood itself has too many woke nuts, modern-day Communists and social justice warriors who love to ruin entertainment).
Scary Movie (2000) is not just the best film of its own franchise. It is still the very best parody movie Hollywood has produced in the 21st century and nothing else comes close to it. As such, its replay value and fun factor remain very strong. That said, I am glad to have seen this movie in the local cinema and replayed it from time to time.
Overall, Scary Movie (2000) is highly recommended.

Sarà una settimana di cinema a 3,50€? Probabile.
