    PS - the dynamic render was not Java2D + #Scala2
    it was plain old (hand-rolled) #CPlusPlus using #Poco and #OpenFrameworks

    (the main reason I was using Java was the Oracle java sdk had a fully licensed adobe #pdf / #postscript / #opentype stack, and was the simplest route to press-quality correct high DPI renders on linux. there's more options today I expect)
