Watching the bizarre mental gymnastics occultists do to avoid and cope with shame makes me happy I was born without the capability to feel it — I am a psychopath. They take so many drugs, join so many cults, and flood their brains with so many fucked-up memes and memetic entities all to avoid feeling the shame that they internalized from Christianity. It is as if they are trying to replace themselves with a perverse simulacrum of themselves. I’m beginning to think that the social media usage of most occultists, if not most people, is all about belonging, avoiding shame, and pursuing external validation and recognition for esteem.

One of the reasons why I was not as traumatized by Christianity is that Christianity is literally fundamentally based on shame as a consequence of knowledge and knowledge of good and evil, essentially. I can’t feel shame, so it just never stuck. They do not realize it; however, psilocybin and MDMA are actually good for treating sexual shame and altering maladaptive schemas, so their drug abuse is them trying to escape shame.

I’m not saying everyone who uses drugs feels shame. I am saying that particular demographic is probably abusing, and not properly using, drugs to avoid shame. Scrolling through the BlueSky accounts of queer Satanists screams overcompensation and them so desperately trying to overcome shame.

Since I cannot feel it, I cannot empathize with it. It must be an awful feeling for them to consistently, and obsessively, act like they do. They obsessively are trying to overcompensate such that their social media profiles become more and more deviant. There is nothing wrong with deviance or perversion; however, when it becomes maladaptive and harmful to others, it is a problem. They are reaching those maladaptive and abusive benchmarks that make their deviance pathological. For example, many of them enjoy inflicting it on others, to intentionally distress people instead of simply existing and expressing themselves. That is an abusive type of behavior called spite. Deviance and perversion are only an issue if it hurts you or others.

If the idea of a psychopath being ‘moral’ seems counterintuitive, as a psychopath, I admire power and control. I abhor weakness. Having a weak will is being weak, so discipline is something I admire. Indulging every dark impulse for the sake of it is weakness to me, so even though prosocial behavior is not in my nature, I temper my dark impulses because I admire strength. It’s a manifestation of my ambition. I think the idea that you have to shame people into being good is a very problematic Christian cultural artifact.

Shame is an emotion that people feel when they violate cultural norms. Since I don’t care if I violate cultural norms, though I care about the tangible consequences, I don’t feel shame. It’s why you’ll never find me in a place that imposes strict community guidelines, and why I’m insufferable in community settings. I don’t care if I break the rules if there are no consequences. I do feel a form of guilt; however, if I violate my standards. It’s different from what most people feel, though. Shame is rooted in culture. It’s a reaction to how we’re perceived. Since inconsequential judgments are irrelevant to me, I feel no shame. I view consequences within the context of power dynamics, so you can counter negative consequences with power.

Deviance and perversion are only an issue if it hurts you or others.

If the idea of a psychopath being ‘moral’ seems counterintuitive, as a psychopath, I admire power and control. I abhor weakness. Having a weak will is being weak, so discipline is something I admire. Indulging every dark impulse for the sake of it is weakness to me, so even though prosocial behavior is not in my nature, I temper my dark impulses because I admire strength. It’s a manifestation of my ambition. I think the idea that you have to shame people into being good is a very problematic Christian cultural artifact.

Shame is an emotion that people feel when they violate cultural norms. Since I don’t care if I violate cultural norms, though I care about the tangible consequences, I don’t feel shame. It’s why you’ll never find me in a place that imposes strict community guidelines, and why I’m insufferable in community settings. I don’t care if I break the rules if there are no consequences. I do feel a form of guilt; however, if I violate my standards. It’s different from what most people feel, though. Shame is rooted in culture. It’s a reaction to how we’re perceived. Since inconsequential judgments are irrelevant to me, I feel no shame. I view consequences within the context of power dynamics, so you can counter negative consequences with power.
