Emma Thompson – „Years and Years“ (Serie, 2019)
Diese Serie war 2019 noch Dystopie, heute ist sie schlicht Chronik. Eine Art Reality-TV der politischen Verzweiflung, das „damals“ nur zufällig noch als Fiktion verkauft wurde. Simon Cellan Jones hat den Zerfall einer liberalen Gesellschaft mit britischer Präzision und einem sardonischen Lächeln umgesetzt, während Emma Thompson als populistische Politikerin Vivienne Rook die Kamera verschlingt wie eine, die weiß, dass die Monster längst im Publikum sitzen. Ihre Performance ist so kalt, so überzeugend, dass sie heute locker neben Orban, Trump oder Meloni Platz nehmen könnte – nicht als Karikatur, sondern als Kollegin. (ZDFneo, Wh.)

Vorhersagen sind schwierig, insbesondere, was die Zukunft betrifft. Russel T. Davies hat es trotzdem gewagt. Kein Wunder, der bekam Geld dafür – von der BBC & dem US-Streamingdienst HBO („The Sopranos“, „Tokyo Vice“ etc.). Wenn Sie realistische politische Plausibilität erwarten, sind Sie bei „Years And Years“ eher falsch. Fantasietoleranz ist erforderlich. (ZDF)
