  1. @Sandbagger I'm glad you found that #ruby toy project interesting, the ogpreview was not meant for document #docker with #Rails, but mostly to demonstrate good practices such as Railway Oriented Programming in general and @dry_rb gems in particular.

Also, if you want to go a little bit deeper, you can check the repository for my talk in #RubyConf2022, where it was more about API input validations & in general and #modularity by accident:

    #dryrb #DryValidation

  2. The videos from #RubyConf2022 are now public!

If you'd like some tips on how to organize your background job queues, you can watch my talk here: youtu.be/pxHQ-hYjZKA

    Thank you @rubyconf

  3. @solnic that's one part I really screw on my recorded session at #rubyConf2022, somehow I manage to delete the slide where I mention the sponsoring part, then forget about that :(

  4. @noelrap @joeldrapper @solnic @davetron5000 Hi Noel,

Yeap, I knew that after talking with other current and past committee members at #rubyConf2022

That's why (somehow?) I'm acknowledging my mistake when I mention "I convince myself". Sorry if the post was picturing another position or prone to have a different interpretation.

Maybe next year I'll be able to send that proposal which is currently on my head only.

  5. @kkuchta same here, but even if it looks like a bad idea in the beginning it still feels terrible.

Last time it happen to me - #rubyConf2022 - I knew it will be bad, but it was worst with the change of timezone thingy. But I had no choice because otherwise I would be losing half a day and a lot of moniii ($200 bucks is still a thing for me, sorry)

  6. I feel like the Mastodon development & admin communities desperately need to see @dmagliola’s #RubyConf2022 talk on queues.

  7. I guess @jremsikjr is just point you to the fediverse convention of doing an #introduction in the first days around here so we all know you better.

As one of the people talking every single day about ruby.social at #RubyConf2022 I said Welcome!

  8. Finally heading home from #RubyConf2022. And of course our flight is delayed by an hour. Oh well, we had a 2.5 hour layover at in Calgary anyway.

  9. I didn't talk about instance variable writes much at #RubyConf2022 because this PR hadn't been merged yet. But now it's been merged, and thanks to Object Shapes, YJIT IV writes are now 6x faster than the interpreter 😳

  16. Hope everyone had a great #rubyconf2022. I missed it and many of you but it's nice to see all the posts.

On the flip side we had a blast doing a record-setting pottery sale at UW yesterday.

I had a ton of fun being an end-user (for once) of some Ruby-grown software. It's wild to me what we can accomplish with a small computer.

95% of our sales were either chip card or contactless payments. Not a single transaction failed. Online inventory instantly reflected our physical sales.

    :ruby: ❤️

  17. Last day at #RubyConf2022
