Gentoo Round 2 is going better than expected.

I have achieved the next stage, overcome the dreaded "env-update && source /etc/profile && export PS1="(chroot) ${PS1}" by trusting my gut and not using the default that was marked in the Gentoo Handbook. I selected, "en_US.UTF-8" and now I am ready to build a fucking kernel.

The horrors, now, will probably begin in earnest as I have walked a path of paradise up until this stage due to my previous prep work that got me to this stage a lot faster. It's only been a few hours now.

Gentoo Handbook is still pretty solid in terms of guiding me, a few double takes at times are necessary to fully process the task which is asked of me.

If this were old me, I would've run. However, I am not afraid as I do have safety nets that will allow me to restore this laptop to working order. However, there are 16 miles of terminal wasteland left to traverse...Before the horrors catch up to me, better get to it!

Okay, Gentoo round 2 has begun officially (my body was acting up, had to make it chill). Good news, my partitions were remembered from the previous session that ended in doom.

Well, my Gentoo Journey ended at the "env-update && source /etc/profile && export PS1="(chroot) ${PS1}" part of the Gentoo Handbook, it did not like my selection. I feel like I should've chosen the one I felt was right. Basically all the steps up to that point were correct, however, not choosing "en_US.UTF-8" honestly fucked the install up. Booted me out of chroot and I couldn't do anything else after that.

So that was fun, I might use the KDE Live Image to install Gentoo to speed certain aspects along. As setting up Sway after such a marathon is going to be a pain in my ass...At the same time, I don't need the minimal Gentoo installer defeating me like this. I will probably use the power of spicy geek spite to get me through this install process, as I was so fucking close.

It took me 5 hrs to fail, which is impressive because I thought I wouldn't nearly make it towards the kernel build.

I am really looking forward to this all-Canadian affair between #Vancouver and #Edmonton!
Both teams have really potent PPs, so I expect that staying out of the penalty box will be a focus for either side.
With that said, I am curious to see how the #Canucks 4th line will interact wth Kane and the other #Oilers. Starting another simple #scaleModel build.

The 1/1000 USS Grissom as seen in #StarTrek III from #Round2 / #PolarLights models.

The kit actually has two models, the Grissom and a Klingon Bird of Prey. But, I built and painted the BoP back in 2020 as a guinea pig for a larger 1/350 version of that model.

So, TECHNICALLY this is an un-started model, but half-built kit.

Anyway, the assemblies took no time to cement together with #Tamiya Extra Thin.

I'll later do a tiny bit of putty work.

I airbrushed it with #Vallejo acrylics, craft paint washes and ground up pastels.

The circuit board is fully custom, but I did help Hobby Link International make a modified version for sale (link below).

Painted with #Tamiya acrylics and #ModelMaster enamels via airbrush.

I sold it to a friend of mine years ago, so I need to build more. I have a few more kits to do it. I'm thinking all four versions LOL.
