  6. i don't care if it’s corny, but “for once, let me look on you with my own eyes” is one of the best lines of screenwriting not originally written by Shakespeare.

  11. It just occurred to me that the original Avatar movie was essentially a really elaborate, standalone remake of Return of the Jedi. Although so far, the Avatar sequels are making the Star Wars prequels look much better by comparison, storywise.

To Kanan you listen, mm? He's a tad insane but makes a good point. It's all The Force.

Two responses to what you just said: The Jedi bit about attachments arose in the prequels, years after #RotJ.

The real problem is the sequels. A few decades later & the 1st Order has nearly destroyed the New Republic. This is necessary to make the Resistance scrappy underdogs fighting an impossible uphill battle. It's baked into the formulaic narratives.

  20. Some say that in Return of the Jedi, the heroes' plan to save Han from Jabba is incoherent. It only makes sense if the heroes each independently decided to save Han without telling anyone else: uproxx.com/movies/what-was-luk

Let's take that seriously. Why would the heroes have hidden their plans to save Han from each other? I propose it is because they all had (secret?) crushes on Han, so they pretended not to like him enough to save him, while panicking over his captivity in private.
