Finally movie night at the Rotes Café again!
Join us on Thursday (January 23) at 6 pm, bring friends and watch the movie “Concerning Violence: Nine Scenes from the Anti-Imperialistic Self-Defence” with us!
There will be snacks and drinks and, as always, plenty of time to chat and discuss the movie afterwards.
We will be showing the film in the original language with German subtitles.
You can find the Rote Café as usual via the basement entrance at Ihnestraße 22, barrier-free access to the café is possible via the institute building.
The filmmaker concentrates on archive material recorded by Swedish documentary filmmakers and television journalists in Africa between 1966 and 1984. These images correspond closely with texts by decolonialism pioneer Frantz Fanon from his book “The Wretched of the Earth”, which forms the basis for the documentary.
The texts are spoken by the musician Lauryn Hill.”

Endlich wieder Filmabend im Roten Café!
Kommt am Donnerstag (23. Januar) um 18 Uhr dazu, bringt Friends mit und guckt mit uns den Film "Concerning Violence: Nine Scenes from the Anti-Imperialistic Self-Defence"!
Dazu gibt es Snacks und Getränke und es ist wie immer noch genug Zeit, sich danach entspannt über den Film auszutauschen und zu diskutieren.
Wir zeigen den Film im Originalton mit deutschen Untertiteln.
Ihr könnt das Rote Café wie gewohnt über den Kellereingang der Ihnestraße 22 finden, barrierefreier Zugang ins Café ist über das Institutsgebäude möglich.
Dabei konzentriert sich der Filmemacher auf Archivmaterial, das schwedische Dokumentarfilmer und Fernsehjournalisten zwischen 1966 und 1984 in Afrika aufgenommen haben. Diese Bilder korrespondieren eng mit Texten vom Dekolonialismus-Vordenker Frantz Fanon aus dessen Buch "Die Verdammten dieser Erde" das die Grundlage für den Dokumentarfilm darstellt.
Gesprochen werden die Texte von der Musikerin Lauryn Hill."

And of course, as always, everyone will be well catered for with delicious food and drink.
