80 years after the Holocaust, we are once again asking the question: What about antiziganism and artistic freedom 🎭 in Germany? Was there something?

ROMADAY is a day of celebration: we celebrate the power of our communities and commemorate the first World Roma* Congress in 1971, the beginning of our global emancipation movement.

But ROMADAY is also a day of struggle: on 8 April, we take to the streets - against racism, austerity policies and remilitarisation. We, Sinti* and Roma*, have always been part of the resistance.

We fought as partisans - and we are still fighting today.

Against forgetting. Against the instrumentalisation of our stories. For visibility, justice and artistic freedom.

ROMADAY ist ein Tag des feierns: Wir feiern die Kraft unserer Communities und erinnern an den ersten Welt-Roma*-Kongress 1971, den Beginn unserer globalen Emanzipationsbewegung.

Doch ROMADAY ist auch ein Kampftag: Am 8. April gehen wir auf die Straße – gegen Rassismus, Austeritätspolitik und Remilitarisierung. Wir, Sinti* und Roma*, waren immer Teil des Widerstands.

Wir kämpften als Partisan*innen – und wir kämpfen noch heute.

Gegen das Vergessen. Gegen die Instrumentalisierung unserer Geschichten. Für Sichtbarkeit, Gerechtigkeit und Kunstfreiheit.
