I don't want to pick on Guyon, but this is a classic example of news media defining 'centre-left' as 'whatever the largest liberal party says at any given time'. You'd think the NZ Labour of the 1980s would have showed them that's not a meaningful way to define it.

Clearly they haven't been listening to Douglas Rushkoff, Aral Balkan, Jaron Lanier, and the many others who have pointed out why all this is a natural and predictable consequence of corporate ownership, centralized platforms, and particularly datafarming revenue models.
