  1. @DjityDjity "Stop paying tax" has to be the answer in our history at some point

    Here and fucking now ...

Stop paying the #bastards and# robbers robbing others,

    Can't give them #money and #expect #State and #Banks to do different.

No way around it, don't fund it / fund it le$$.

  2. @RichardJMurphy / #RichardMurphy [UPDATE - OPENING PICTURE VIA RIGHT CLICK ---> "NEW TAB" SHOWS BIGGER / ORIGINAL VERSION SOMETIMES...

The thumbnail, drag-drop or copying picture is different / smaller or not as big sometimes, so need to open.

    --------older post below-----

1/ The #Infographic needs to be bigger

I love small graphics and saving filesize but you could go X2 / 200% the size without worry.

How about adding it for clearer #education?

  3. #AI "saves time" #quote:

"...#AI to save myself the time of re-creating a wheel I've already constructed?"

    taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2026/0

I like #RichardMurphy who see's the patterns but when something is "fast" / "easy", it over-rides the dangers:

    - "why is it free" / "is there a catch??
    - "does it matter if it's a Big #USPol company behind it, doing other bad stuff?"
    - "in exchange for what longer-term?"

"Free" lunch solves the monetary problem... and can by-pass even clever people's logic.

  4. #Tax gaslighting works by turning #political choices into supposed #economic facts. Once we understand how tax really works we can debate what kind of #society we want instead of accepting misleading - neoliberal - slogans.”

  5. @Simon318ppm @RichardJMurphy
1/ Highly unlikely / not logical or even worth going for #Capitalism's #infinite #growth.

We should just be #happy at some point:

    - Happy with what we have
    - Working to making more happy

2/ #RichardMurphy says both highly precise and some backward things:

He equates #AI as similar to using a pencil which is not the same as a comparison:

"There is no requirement to say if paper has been used, or a pen or pencil, or of what type."

  6. @RichardJMurphy 1/ Pic = too small

2/ 1st post (similar) is here
    - with my #AI comments:

3/ You do good work but...

But see what's behind the #AI #curtain (WizardOfOz reference] and what's 'easy' or basically #AmericanIntelligence

All American stuff you have to wonder why a #free #service & heavily invested #finance ppl...

    [#ANSWER BELOW]

because you are their #dinner / #money / #resource while you get your short gain 'using them' (and we all lose) ....

    #RichardMurphy #AI #WizardOfOz

  7. @RichardJMurphy AI awareness is good:

    3 things:

1/ YES many people might not get how bad #AI is and how different it is to just using a #pencil or #dictionary (in #RichardMurphy's words)...

    1/ Richard's #AI #disclaimer:

    taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2026/0

"...#Substack introduced a rule requiring authors on the site to disclose whether they use AI in the production of their work.

I have to say, I find that requirement very strange."

  8. If you act like a total piece of shit by using an LLM to extrude a wall of text (ironically, about Marx and the means of production), cram it into an "infographic" image, and then try to cover your arse by saying it's "AI-assisted" in the Alt-Text, but doing little else to describe the image — which is the entire fucking reason for Alt-Text, you nincompoop — then I'm going shove a couple of my handcrafted em-dashes where the sun don't shine, and block you.
    Get in the bin.

  9. Prof #RichardMurphy in his blog takes a look at the #FInancialTimes Editorial and its castigation of the new British PM’s legislative agenda: The Editorial is, of course, nothing but a crass attempt to persuade the public that keeping to the well charted #NeoLIberal economic course is what is required to get get the #UK out of whatever trouble it is in (not that private businesses have anything to do with that of course). As Prof. Murphy writes:

“For the last 45 years we have seen government after government in the UK seek to revive the "animal spirits" in the UK's private sector. Taxes have been cut massively. Grants have been given. Investment partnerships and deals have been signed. Enterprise zones and low and even tax-free zones have been created. Money has been put into infrastructure to help businesses, rather than to build houses for people. And have the animal spirits of business been revived? No, of course not.

Why not? That is because what the UK private sector, whether that be business or banking and finance, is not the slightest bit interested in adding value to the UK economy. In fact, it is so long ago that it did anything of that sort that most of those who think they are engaged in business in the UK have long forgotten what doing so might mean. The only thing they are interested in is extracting value.”

  10. Whatever may be put up in opposition to MMT, it is hard to deny that our current #NeoClassical (#NeoLiberal) #Economy is not working for the better good of society as a whole. It is uncontestable to say that for the last 40 years or so, wealth has been hoovered up and tipped into the pockets of a minute portion of a global population. Where once the western middle class did not feel the theft that was concentrated on Global South, the tables have turned 180 degrees and all strata of society bar the #Billionaires are now awake to this scourge. It is time to think outside the box and come up with more equitable economic systems and toss the current crop into the dustbin of history. Don’t be afraid, it can never be worse than what is in place currently.

“Richard Murphy has written extensively on the subject, developing a position that challenges orthodox interpretations of inflation's causes, questions the tools used to manage it, and argues that the policy response to recent inflationary episodes has been both analytically flawed and socially harmful. His analysis draws on Modern Monetary Theory, heterodox political economy, and close attention to the real-world distribution of economic power.”

  11. GREAT PEOPLE ON MASTODON
    DON'T ANSWER ON MASTODON !

    #RichardMurphy /
    @RichardJMurphy

IT'S A SHAME BECAUSE 2-WAY WORK IS NEEDED *WITH THE PEOPLE*...

    EVERYTHING IS TOO 1-WAY TODAY.

( I GOT A REPLY VIA OTHER WAYS ) BUT HE EVENTUALLY AGREED TO ADD THAT HE DOESN'T ANSWER AT ALL ON MASTODON.

FAIR ENOUGH BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO CHANGE THINGS ( THE PEOPLE ! )

  12. "Above all, it means recognising that #poverty is a political choice. Scotland shows that different outcomes are possible. Until the UK chooses differently, poverty will remain not just widespread, but deeper, more persistent and more destructive with each passing year. We need a politics of care. Right now we have a poverty of care."

  13. #RichardMurphy is beginning to see the light in respect to #UBI #UniversalBasicIncome:

“What impressed me most about this conversation was the pragmatism underlying their radical proposals. They test policies for feasibility, affordability, and popularity. They recognise that introducing UBI in stages makes it familiar and non-threatening. They're willing to work with any party that takes up these ideas.”

  14. "A nation doesn't have to balance its books. In fact, you can almost say with certainty that the worst thing a nation can do is balance its books, because there wouldn't be enough money to go around, and that's pretty serious."

  16. If you’re an MMT‘er, this is one podcast you do not want to miss. I for one am looking forward to the next one.

If you are a neoclassical or neoliberal economist then watching this pod cast is likely to screw with your brain, so be warned even though I huighly recommend you watch it.

Our economic systems are built on false assumptions and we need to change that because there are better ways to greater social good.

"The fact is economics should serve #society and not the other way round.
#People and not #markets should come first.
Fairness, #sustainability and #democracy are the things that we should be prioritizing and we should be describing these as #economic #goals too and the consequences are very different economic model."

  18. #RichardMurphy looks ahead to attempt to divine what might happen if Trump causes the #USDollar to fail. It is currently, and has been since taking over from #PoundSterling around the time of WWII, the de facto #ReserveCurrency of the World.
