The auspost app is doing the weirdest thing! (Shocking, i know, lol!)
So i have a parcel coming.
I open the app and it says it is at Redbank (a point of doom auspost centre, oh no!)
I click into the item and open the tracking history
It now says it is generically at Brisbane
And back on the main page, it will now say it is at Brisbane until it moves on.Why does it change like this?? #rhetorical Ive seen it for the last few items now! Weird!

I've noticed that over the last year, coincident with a certain president's campaign, an awful lot of "conservatives" are suddenly anti-gun and pushing for magazine limits and assault weapon bans. You know they don't have any opinions of their own, this is just a regurgitation of this year's propaganda push.
Why are the News Barons[TM] drumming up conservative support for a ban on any weapons that might be useful in a firefight?

A #rhetorical #technique you should know about: THE TRUTH TRAP.
This happens when a claim is made that contains untruthful elements in the payload.
Instead of refuting the claim, you take the bait and argue the untruthful elements inside the claim, giving implied legitimacy to the outer claim.
Dialectics are setup to continue the #argument inside the bullshit claim, giving the claim repetitive power over time, without refutation. In time, #refutation of the original claim appear outlandish.

I realised a few years back (on Google+) that there were two major schools of online discussion. One is #rhetorical, aimed at winning or convincing. The other is #dialectic, interested in understanding or finding truth. The two are almost wholly incompatible.
Dialectic discussion depends strongly on (I want to say "requires", though I'm not certain of that) a mutual respect. It's quite easiy disrupted.
Encounters with rhetoricians should be considered at best training on their methods. References to the classsics, such as Aristotle's Sophistical Refutations (the original "Bullshit Arguments Which Must Die"), and Cicero, remain useful. Very rarely can you actually win a concession. Less rarely, learn something.
