  8. Backrooms: Um Não-Lugar

    BACKROOMS: UM NÃO-LUGAR
    (Backrooms)

    SINOPSE:

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  11. And Renate Reinsve is on an amazing roll recently!

I've only seen her before in The Worst Person in the World (she was good, the movie's decent), but know she is generally well-regarded and was highly praised for Sentimental Value.

She seems to choose projects that have some unique aspects, like A Different Man.

  12. I really liked the film, and there's a lot to unpack and unravel and dive into. The reveal of more details about the characters is done really well.

In addition to the thematic elements of the film are the outstanding performances, mostly from #ChiwetelEjiofor and #RenateReinsve , both of whom I really like. Their performances serve to cement you into the story, and it's a testament to the story and the filmmakers that they were able to attract talent like them. 2/3

  13. Żółta tapeta, buczenie jarzeniówek i obłęd. Internetowy fenomen „Backrooms” trafia na ekrany kin

Zapomnijcie o potworach z szafy, wampirach czy seryjnych mordercach w maskach. Współczesna groza rodzi się w pustych, pozornie zwyczajnych przestrzeniach.

Do polskich kin wchodzi właśnie „Backrooms.

Ten prosty obrazek wywołał w internautach z całego świata dziwne uczucie niepokoju i fałszywej nostalgii (tzw. zjawisko liminal spaces).

Mężczyzna podczas rutynowej pracy w piwnicy swojego sklepu odkrywa wyrwę w rzeczywistości, która przenosi go do tytułowych Backrooms.

    Warszawska premiera i stany lękowe

    My Thoughts

When my brother GC and I heard that Kane Parsons (Kane Pixels) was getting to make a Backrooms movie.

That would be distributed by A24 to movie theaters / the cinema.

We knew that we would probably watch it.

Because we follow his YouTube channel, and we have seen most of his short films about The Backrooms.

    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVAh-MgDVqvDUEq6qDXqORBioE4Yhol_z

As well as various other people’s unique takes on The Backrooms with their own short films on YouTube.

So we wanted to go out and support a YouTuber making his first major movie.

I did not realize how young he was until I heard it on the news.

Congratulations, young man, for achieving so much, and I look forward to your future projects.

This movie is not for everyone. Do not watch it when you are tired and distracted, et cetera.

Watch it when you are in the mood for a slower-paced indie movie with a liminal space.

I watched this on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the Regal movie theater in the city of L.

With my brother GC, my brother CC, my brother KDC, and my sister-in-law KC.

Unfortunately, this movie did not stick to his usual formula for The Backrooms.

Which is first-person, found footage, and an exploration of the liminal space known as The Backrooms.

I wish that would have been the main focus of this movie.

Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve had good performances.

I hope to see Renate Reinsve in another movie or TV show in the future.

But I wish that they had spent more time exploring The Backrooms.

I also wish that we would have seen more unique areas in The Backrooms.

I also wish that a certain entity had either stayed in the shadows or that it did not look as goofy.

My brother GC and I did not like this movie as much as we had expected.

Because it was slower than expected and did not follow The Backrooms formulas as much as expected.

It was not bad, and I do want to watch it again when it is available at home.

Because I think that this might be a movie that I will like better on the second viewing.

Because when I left the movie theater / cinema, I was not exactly sure how I felt about this movie.

So I need to see it again.

Under more comfortable conditions, like at home when I am in the mood for this type of movie.

The rest of my family who watched it with me, besides my brother GC, did not like this movie.

But KDC and KC have disliked almost every movie that I have watched with them so far, so this is nothing new. :D

I would still recommend this movie to people who want to watch a movie like this.

    I would rate it a 3.5 out of 5.

    The end,

    • John Jr

  15. What Our Theater Added After the “Backrooms” End Credits

Previously on Midlife Crisis Crossover: Longtime MCC readers may recall I'm not of Generation YouTube and don't really keep tabs on any of their channels or series except Screen Junkies' "Honest Trailers". Bonus points go to creator/director Kane Parsons for grabbing my attention with his feature-film debut Backrooms, which builds on his YouTube horror series of the same name that I'd never heard of until I saw the trailer and may have held my breath for a moment as I thought to myself, I've had dreams exactly like this.
