860 attenddees (700 onsite), 46 countries, 90+ sessions, 6 plenary sessions, 100 poster, 8.000+ coffees, 50+ staff onsite, 1 Mozart concert.

The CoreTrustSeal "Curation & Preservation Levels: CoreTrustSeal Discussion Paper" is still avail for further community feedback. i need to put this on my reading list again!

did you know there's an RDA CoreTrustSeal Maitenance Working Group? Neither did I! Just signed up for it. If you'd like to follow along what they are doing and/or actively contribute, more info and the possibility to join the WG can be found here:

Donaldson compared overall compliance scores (sum of all criteria scores) for re-certified repositories across their different certifications. Numbers showed that the majority of certified repositories have either slightly improved or stayed the same re score.

RDA/WDS TRUST Principles & Adoption WG Deliverables:

- create, administer and analyze survey on principle to standards hesitancy and report findings
- collect, analyze and report on case studies
- map TRUST to certifications
- create and test guidelines and self-assessment on implementing TRUST
- create, launch and update Wiki on TRUST

What is the RDA WG TRUST trying to achive?

we want to understand:
- what are hindrances to TRUST adoption?
- are these connected to specific implementation comonalities?
- how can we improve the understandbibility and usability of TRUST?

we want to clarify the relationship between:
- TRUST to CARE principle
- TRUST to FAIR principles
- TRUST and certification frameworks

Dawei Lin points out that TRUST (and also FAIR) are often mistaken for standards when they are indeed not standards but more communication tools. The WG is about seeing how TRUST can lead / assist certification.

Andrew Treloar (ARDC): total research data in australia is estimated to be 300 PB ... for a population of ca 25 Mio.
approx 90 PB of that is avail for open discovery, a further approx 85 PB is classed as sensitive, growth rate is approx 25-30% p.a.

digipres hive-mind: anyone aware if there's been analysis done on data cubes in regards to::
- how they can be effectively used in digipres implementations (as a way to store, query and present information about digital holdings)
- how they can be treated/organized as archival objects?

The industry definition of "data space" is:
"static assets that are shared between two participants in a secured channel".
So, data spaces requirer both, client & server to have connector software and data sharing becomes the OPPOSITE of open data!
Joan Maso is pointing out that the combination of open data, data cubes and data spaces in the EU "Green Deal Data Space" call is a puzzling thing. #idw2023 #idwsalzburg2023 #rda #RDAplenary21

coming from #ipres2023 with the feeling that "we've got this" and #digipres thinking is deeply embedded into digital workflows across the GLAM, university & research landscape to #idw2023 #RDAplenary21 is quite the reality check.
over the past 2 days i've seen parts of the wheel being reinveted and 2003esque digipres discussions of differences between "long-term avalialility", "long-term archiving", "digital preservation".
why do we all fail to collaborate better over and over again !?

Now hearing about FInna, a project/portal by the National Library of Finnland that has been collecting and making available Finnish cultural heritage data for over 10 years.

we have so much experience and knowledge to bring to the table when it comes to preserving data for > 10 years. why do we fail in bringing that knowledge to other domains?

Love the session "collections as data" and i think we're hitting a lot of important points here. however, i think there's also something very typical happening here ... which is cultural heritage instittuions underselling their value when it comes to knowledge around preservation - analogue as well as digital - when meeting "big data domains".

I like that Sally Chambers is mentioning "the long tail of cultural heritage ... so beyond just national libraries and national archives". I think we so often forget that not everyone has the resources to do what we as large institutions do

Now up is Sally Chambers from DARIAH talking about Cultural Heritage Collections as data. First example given is Europeana as THE data space for european cultural heritage. Europeana is build around infrastructure, data quality, capacity building & reuse and lastly, services to the public.
