I made a thing: a ray tracer in Python for geometrical optics. Commercial software is too expensive for my needs, other projects don't fulfil them, so DIY it is. I was hesitant to release the source code, given that it almost certainly will be scraped for AI training immediately, but the "black pill" talk by @andrewrk convinced me.
It's called tiny-tracer, as I had to think of Tiny dancer by Elton John, and I like the alliteration.

This morning I had a fun moment when I discovered that sunlight reflected inside the dustbin in my office formed a very nice #caustic that is practically the classic schoolbook example of spherical #aberration.
