I'm in a camper in the middle of North Friesland with nothing but my Linux laptop and some SDDs to backup the upcoming shoots.

Which means: I don't have my usual editing setup with my, which bases heavily on MacOS and Adobe Lightroom.

But also: I can now test out alternative editing programs! And I must say: #RapidRAW does an extremely good job. UI is on point and the workflow feels easy and intuitive. Some flaws here and there, but in general I'm really happy with it!

I found a new toy this afternoon. I've been looking for a new FOSS photo editor and stumbled upon RapidRaw (https://www.getrapidraw.com).

Not sure yet whether it will become my goto tool, but I was able to duplicate results I'd gotten with Darktable in a fraction of the time, and with a small percentage of the swearing. So there's a good chance it will :)

Jenen, die eine brauchbare Alternative zu #Lightroom suchen, kann ich #RapidRAW empfehlen. Für mich als Amateurfotografen eine super Software. Zwar noch recht jung, aber schon ziemlich gut.

I've been using #RapidRaw for about a week. I'm impressed! Getting similar results to what I had with #Lightroom on #MacOS. RR is missing some features and I've found at least one bug (tagging more than one photo at a time wipes out earlier tags).

Re missing clone/heal tools... in RR this functionality is called "Inpainting" (see image). There is a "local AI" component that I do not understand yet, but my first use of "quick erase" (removing vandalism on a sign) gave impressive results. 🙂 👍
