The reason I'm finally cancelling this btw is that I tried RapidRAW (https://www.getrapidraw.com/). Darktable has a bit of a learning curve, and I might put in that effort at some point.
RapidRAW is super-easy, plenty rapid, open source, and has all the basic editing tools that I need. It is a seriously impressive piece of software.
Talk about challenging your preconceptions… I've been evaluating #RapidRaw for the last few days.
On the plus side, the (lone and young) dev really seems to know his stuff. He is obviously a photographer himself, with inside knowledge about how (many) photographers tick and what they need. The thing is really fast, beautiful, and intuitive. (and it even manages to correctly read and process Sigma Foveon DNG images – something that's been broken in #darktable for years now).
