#RandomMemory: I remember in my 30s I had a coworker in his 50s, and he was, in a word, a rather dour person.
He came across as extremely world-weary. He was even an ex-pastor, and he wouldn't even talk about his experiences as a pastor.
I remember thinking, "Man, that dude is such a downer. Things can't possibly be as bad as he thinks they are."
And now... I'm basically him. 😅
Not as dour, for certain, but yeah, I get it.
I remember I was talking to him about politics once, and I was expressing some of my very lame-brained semi-religious-right opinions to him, and he basically shut down the entire conversation with something like, "That's it. You're literally the reason why everthing is as terrible as it is."
Hah. He wasn't half wrong, either.
Life, it... it puts many miles on the odometers of our hearts, and it tests what we think is true and noble, and exposes all of the ways we are utter prating fools so much of the time.
I'm thankful for "the process." As painful as it's been, it has made me a far better person than otherwise.
I'm so thankful that I'm not still walking around with the half-arsed assumptions and dogmas I carried with me in 2011.

Eons ago, at work, whilst driving around a small village, I thought I spotted an iPad discarded in the grass verge. We doubled back to check it out. It was a microwave door.
Follow me for now great content! 😄

One of the worst experiences in my career was trying to teach a group of lawyers how to use the internet in 1995. Worst students ever.

A couple of weeks ago, I paused at an empty four-way stop for longer than was needed so that a bird could finish its water sips and birdbath in the puddle at the center of the intersection.

I started listening to the Dos Game Club podcast episode about Wing Commander.
3 memories occurred. Seeing a preview of WC1 in ACE magazine and being sad it wasn't coming to Atari ST.
Watching a friend's WC3 promo CD, which had an out take reel from the live action filming. Tom Wilson is a pretty funny guy.
Getting WC4 DVD edition with my Creative Labs MPEG2 decoder card.
This meant my PC had two video pass-through cables. Video card ➡ 3Dfx card ➡ MPEG2 Card ➡ Monitor!

#RandomMemory: Having dinner at someone's house in #Portland in #1996, and them commenting on how the city was getting really expensive, housing-wise.
I have no idea how anyone affords to live there (or any similar popular/populous/coastal cities) today, except for the few wealthy ones.

20 years ago, I dislocated my shoulder taking out the trash (yeah, I know :BlobCatDerpy:)
I had a friend come pick me up and take me to the hospital and get it popped back into place. I had to take it easy for a while, and do physical therapy to get most of the strength and range of motion back (although it never fully recovered).
When I was giving my friend an update about a week later, he said, "Bless your heart!" and my brain kinda crashed for a moment, because it never occurred to me that the phrase could actually be used unironically and non-sarcastically. XD
#LivingInTheSouth, y'all. ;)

Around 10 years ago, I used a "correct horse battery staple"-style password generator to create my university password, and it gave me "Neologistic2twaddle!"
That still makes me smile.

I generally hate those bar candles — put an open flame next to possibly drunk people and hope for the best?
But one time on a cold winter night my friend and I were warming our hands over those before playing.

After we got married, we traveled to Disney World. Everywhere, they were playing "Be Our Guest" on repeat. My wonderful neurodivergent brain wrote its own lyrics and went around singing:
"Be our guest,
Be a pest.
Put our patience
To the test…"😈😆🤣
