✨ Morning Star by The Prisoners is a British psych rock album with cool sounding keyboards thanks to the very cute Vox Continental! (see below)

At first, I thought it was from the 1960s, but they’re actually a retro band from the mid-1980s. Some tracks are more inspired than others, but in the sea of bad new wave back then, this must’ve been a refreshing breath of fresh air!

I’ll definitely listen again and dig into their other stuff. 🎶

Ek by Manika Kaur is a devotional album rooted in Sikhism, all for the glory of Guru Nanak Dev Ji! It’s like Indian New-Age music, with the tabla adding some cool vibes. Kaur’s voice and the haunting melodies are beautiful at first, but after a few similar-sounding songs, it gets repetitive. Good as background music for focus tasks like coding—ethereal and non-intrusive. In short: not bad, but it does get boring quickly.

Like Billy Idol, I am from Generation X. Like many in this generation, there was a time when I transitioned from Prog Rock to Punk. Being young and embracing Punk led to extreme opinions—my anti-pop stance was strong. All pop was trash. If you'd told me then that I'd become a J-pop fan, I’d have laughed. The popular music of the time was awful '80s pop: Spandau Ballet, Pet Shop Boys... you name it. I didn’t know Scritti Politti but likely hated them too.

I apologize for being so long on this last one.

Last album was fawn by foxtails

It's not because it's a long album. There is only one song on it. It's mostly because I can be very lazy and I thought this hashtag was not interesting anyone 😜 (I was wrong)

This band, foxtails, is completely great. Since the album was short, I listened to a few other. It's all great!

It's unclassifiable; somewhere between post-punk, neo-psychedelia and noise rock.

Pure awesomeness.

It's an ambient music album. It reminded me of Tangerine Dream.

Way too new-agesque for me although there are some nice parts here and there.

Mini-review

I don't have much to say about this album.

It's not really my usual musical cup of tea. Yet it's pop so it's easy to listen to and, indeed, it was.

It's okay, I enjoy listening to it. It change from my routine. But I probably wont listen to it again.

Something amazing, through, it that it don't in anyway sound like it's from 15 years ago. You could have told me this was released yesterday...

African Head Charge is a band I was already familiar with. I might even consider myself a fan, though I haven’t listened to them in a very long time—long enough that I missed this album from... 20 years ago. So it was a pleasure to reconnect with them. This band hasn’t changed a bit, and Vision of Psychedelic Africa is on the same level as the albums from the '90s that I know best. I highly recommend it!
